It's early summer, the bell’s ringing. Excited students in summer uniforms are pouring out of the classrooms. The music video of TWS’ pre-released song “hey! hey!” off their new album SUMMER BEAT! begins with a scene that hints at the start of summer break. Shy Dohoon finds even opening the door to his classroom difficult, and TWS members struggle to talk to their classmates when they meet for the first time in March. But when Shinyu walks out the classroom with a smile on the last day of school before summer break,Youngjae and the other members are there to greet him.

TWS play basketball, listen to music by sharing earbuds, and go on a trip to the beach as if to set out on an adventure together in the “hey! hey!” music video. The lyrics to the lead single “If I’m S, Can You Be My N?” goes, “I wanna like the things you like” and the scenes in the “TWS 2nd Mini Album SUMMER BEAT! Trailer feature the members engaging in activities that they each prefer, like playing basketball, dancing, and reading comic books; SUMMER BEAT! defines what it means to be together. It can be an expression of unease over seeing a friend’s crestfallen face, but also the bond that gives you the courage to walk up to him and ask him to let it all out. This clearly special friendship is expressed in an equation of their own: “You + Me = 7942.” They not only share hobbies but also a close sense of fellowship. The rising and falling structure is repeated in the main melody of the chorus in “If I'm S Can You Be My N?” as if to complement one another, which ends in a firm rise in “So I can always find you.” Friends can bicker, but they can also fill what the others lack because they are all different. Perhaps the melody is a portrayal of the courage of offering your hand without hesitation to a friend in need.

“We run together.” When all other sounds fade away, and only their voices remain in the “hey! hey!” music video, that is the moment when the group of friends start running in the same direction. Cries of “hey! hey!” that are reminiscent of group chants become cheers for one another, and the choreography that looks similar to running adds to the euphoria of quick-paced sprinting. SUMMER BEAT! feels like a sports themed manhwa - the members play basketball in “hey! hey!” and high jump in “If I'm S Can You Be My N?” But instead of focusing on the competition and tension it highlights what the boys feel. Shinyu who high jumps at a track meet in the “If I'm S Can You Be My N?” music video, feels his heartbeat and musters all his strength to jump while the other members push him from behind. His friends want to help and support him no matter what. Friends do more than just root for their buddy's growth; they want to tag along on their journey. And so, SUMMER BEAT! shows hints of that teen spirit of wanting to show off like in “Double Take”, but it also represents a close bond - the boys talk about their woes from yesterday on their walk back home at sunset in “If I Were the Sun.” Dohoon and Shinyu provides a certain energy to the tracks with their deep voice while Kyungmin adds sweetness with his youthful falsetto singing “Tell me when this song’s all over” - he worries and asks his friends what’s going on. When bright energy and melancholy come together under the feeling of wanting to rely on someone, that’s when TWS’ fresh sound is completed in the name of SUMMER BEAT! They encourage one another by saying “Look, we’ve come this far” and keep one another on track saying that their youth will be everlasting. Their fateful first encounter doesn’t stop there. They stay together to push each other forward. They’re “sprinting towards a tomorrow that no one knows” but once they look around, they find that their friends are close by. What a beautiful time it is.
