Post Malone’s country album, F-1 Trillion, rolls in at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart. It has been three months since he showcased his take on country music with “I Had Some Help,” a collaboration with Morgan Wallen back in May. “I Had Some Help” quickly gained attention, topping the Hot 100 chart for six weeks and reaching No. 1 not only in the country genre but on the overall Radio Songs chart. With just this one standout track, the market had already become familiar with his country sound and built up significant expectations. As a result, Malone has secured his first Billboard 200 number-one album since 2019, following Beerbongs & Bentleys (2018) and Hollywood’s Bleeding (2019).
The album earned over 250,000 equivalent units in a single week. Streaming reached 212.86 million plays, equivalent to 164,000 units, while album sales accounted for 80,000 units. F-1 Trillion also leads Top Streaming Albums and Top Album Sales tallies. The album employed the strategy of releasing a deluxe version on the day of its release. The standard edition of the F-1 Trillion album was released on August 16 and has 18 songs, 15 of which are collaborations with country stars ranging from veteran artists like Dolly Parton and Hank Williams Jr. to established artists like Blake Shelton and contemporary artists like Morgan Wallen. Later on August 16, F-1 Trillion garnered a deluxe reissue, dubbed the “Long Bed” edition, with nine additional solo Post Malone tracks.
F-1 Trillion debuts with the second-largest week for any country album. Only Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter earned a bigger week this year when it opened with 407,000 units. Both artists share the commonality of attempting a genre shift into country music. Beyoncé previously logged eight No. 1s on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart as a soloist in her twenty-year career and Post Malone claimed four No. 1s on Top R&B/Hip-Hop and also led the Top Rock & Alternative Albums chart once. Notably, Dolly Parton featured on both albums, with each of her songs making it onto the Hot 100. This marks the first time since 1985 that Dolly Parton has charted two songs in a single year.
The streaming performance of major albums has a significant impact on the Hot 100 chart. All 18 tracks from F-1 Trillion have charted on the Hot 100. Leading the way are “I Had Some Help” at No. 2, “Pour Me a Drink” at No. 13, and “Guy for That” at No. 17, with the remaining 15 tracks ranging from No. 23 to 88. Additionally, Taylor Swift’s “Fortnight” is at No. 55, bringing Post Malone’s total to 19 songs on the Hot 100 this week. This breaks his previous record of 18 songs set during the debut week of Beerbongs & Bentleys in 2018.
Looking at the top ranks, Chappell Roan’s The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess holds the No. 2 spot with a similar performance to last week at 72,000 units, while Taylor Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department is at No. 3 with 62,000 units.

Shaboozey’s “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” adds a seventh nonconsecutive week at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, surpassing the six nonconsecutive weeks on top for Post Malone’s “I Had Some Help” featuring Morgan Wallen. It also logs the sole longest command this year on the Hot Country Songs chart, notching an 11th week at No. 1, besting Beyoncé’s “Texas Hold ‘Em,” which ruled for 10 weeks. “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” dominated streaming, digital downloads, and radio airplay over the past two weeks. Although digital sales increased by 5% this week compared to last week, it was pushed to the No. 2 spot by the debut of Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars’ “Die With a Smile.”
Titles that have led the Hot Country Songs chart, “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” and “I Had Some Help,” have ranked at Nos. 1 and 2 simultaneously on the Hot 100 for the past six weeks. The streak ties for the longest in the Hot 100’s history for country songs. Las Summer, Jason Aldean’s “Try That in a Small Town”; Morgan Wallen’s “Last Night”; Luke Combs’ “Fast Car”; Oliver Anthony Music’s “Rich Men North of Richmond”; and Zach Bryan’s “I Remember Everything” took the top two spots for six consecutive weeks. If last year the country genre generated buzz, this year, two songs have proven their potential for steady hits by consistently holding their positions. In particular, the overwhelming and sustained radio performance highlights their strong chart presence, even during the debut week of “Die With a Smile,” the superstar collaboration between Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars.

Lady Gaga’s comeback is confirmed, and it is already dazzling. Before leaving the city after her performance at the Paris Olympic opening ceremony, she posted on her Instagram Story, saying, “I’m so deeply touched by my French fans this week outside the hotel—I’m gonna come out and say goodbye tonight with a few seconds of #LG7.” Her last album was Chromatica in 2020. Lady Gaga kept her promise, playing snippets of two new songs directly from her laptop. On August 13, she uploaded another snippet on Instagram, briefly playing a new song on the piano. The T-shirt she wore in the video featured Bruno Mars' face. The next day, Bruno Mars responded by posting a photo of himself wearing a Lady Gaga T-shirt.
On August 16, the two artists released “Die With a Smile.” Desperate, blind, and at times destructive love in the face of a collapsing world is a classic theme for pop duets, and Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars deliver this with a polished execution that makes the track a spectacle in itself. The song surged onto the Hot 100 at No. 3, ranking No. 3 on the Streaming Songs chart with 27.4 million streams and topping the Digital Song Sales chart with 210,000 downloads. Considering their overall catalog performance on the Artist 100, Lady Gaga re-entered at No. 24, while Bruno Mars climbed from 36 to 16.
This is Lady Gaga’s 18th top 10 hit, and Bruno Mars’ 19th. Both artists have not seen such high chart positions for a while. Lady Gaga’s last top 10 hit was “Rain on Me” (No. 1) in 2020, while Bruno Mars’ was “Smokin Out the Window” (No. 5) by Silk Sonic with Anderson .Paak. For a collaborative hit of this caliber by heavyweight artists, one might reference Rihanna and Paul McCartney’s “FourFiveSeconds” from 2015, or Michael Jackson and Janet Jackson’s “Scream” from 1995.
The title and schedule for the new album have not yet been revealed. However, with the release of Joker: Folie à Deux scheduled for October this year, it is clear that it will be difficult to summarize 2024 without including Lady Gaga.
