After their seven-day trip to Italy with Guide NA, SEVENTEEN heads off on vacation with Owner Na to Boeun in Chungcheongbuk Province. Following their Italian travel show, “NANA TOUR with SEVENTEEN,” the group sets off to a guesthouse for their 10th-anniversary special, “NANA bnb with SEVENTEEN,” aptly described by DK as a “healing documentary-comedy.” Over the course of their three-night stay, the group experiences “healing” through deep relaxation, become fascinating “documentary” subjects engaged in thought-provoking conversation, and fills their unique “comedy” with nonstop laughs. From playing games and preparing meals that highlight SEVENTEEN’s tight teamwork, to their unique way of enjoying the guesthouse life, the series gives fascinating glimpses into the individual characters that form a remarkably dynamic group. To better understand the 10-year journey the 13 of them have shared together, here’s a breakdown of some of the more noteworthy moments from “NANA bnb,” member by member.

S.COUPS, the slightly imperfect, but otherwise perfect, group leader
Having led the three-unit, 13-member group for 10 years, S.COUPS has proven himself to be an unshakable leader for SEVENTEEN. And watching “NANA bnb,” it’s obvious: He’s the first to tackle the tower of dirty dishes after each meal and ensures even those cooking the food have a hot meal waiting for them, perfectly embodying his reliable nature. But for as dependable as SEVENTEEN’s leader is, a spacey, more endearing side of the group’s oldest member comes out to play just as often on “NANA bnb.”
There’s numerous examples throughout the show. During the crew’s staged 10th-anniversary party prank, when THE 8 wins a quiz and everyone gets lodging certificates, the group reacts with a mix of shock, elation, and confusion. S.COUPS, meanwhile, pipes up to ask, “Are we going somewhere?” only grasping the situation after a beat. He decides to limit himself to spending just 10,000 won at a rest stop on the way to the guesthouse, but his resolve falls apart the minute JOSHUA and DK lie about leaving their money on the bus. And he ends up going over his self-imposed limit to buy them snacks. The charismatic leader seen onstage is nowhere to be found, replaced instead by a warmhearted sweetheart. The relaxed-fit side of his personality that comes out when he’s able to take it easy offstage, like when the group plays for household essentials in a random race of luck and he picks the ink-soaked sponge five times, failing to advance past round two—and he shakes it off with a resigned laugh. Then, when S.COUPS is shopping for snacks, he buys whatever can be easily shared among the group rather than what he personally wants. Similarly, even though he ultimately fails to get any eggs from the chicken coop, the way he overcomes his fears to go inside shows how dedicated he is to giving his fellow group members the best fried rice experience possible. And then there’s the way he attaches every single one of the group’s MINITEEN characters to his hoodie as soon as the group gets their matching clothes—a simple act that speaks volumes about how the SEVENTEEN leader’s heart is always in the right place for his friends—even if he can be a bit of a goof at times.
JOSHUA, the quietly charismatic king of the kitchen
SEVENTEEN boasts more than a few talented cooks in their ranks, but “NANA bnb” sees JOSHUA stepping up as the unanimously recognized ace head chef. Claiming his spot in the kitchen from day one, JOSHUA teams up with master chef DK to become the twin chefs of the guesthouse. The group falls in love with their chefs’ pork kimchi jjigae, convinced the twins could open their own restaurant. Even when it comes to the tempura rice bowls—not your typical home-cooked meal—JOSHUA confidently seasons the dish, perfectly to taste, and knows exactly what’s missing and how to fix it. His take on kimchi bibim-guksu, the measurements for which he can simply eyeball, even gets SEUNGKWAN, DK, and MINGYU to pick up their chopsticks, despite their previous pledge to go on a fast.
But just as captivating in the “NANA bnb” kitchen as his ace cooking is JOSHUA’s kindness. On their second day in the guesthouse, when HOSHI’s choice of tempura gets selected at random as the menu, the trio who “don’t know cooking”—VERNON’s view of HOSHI, SEUNGKWAN, and himself—has to team up with JOSHUA to handle lunch. Seeing how nervous SEUNGKWAN is about making such a large meal for the first time, JOSHUA says, “Why? You can just do it!” and stays by his side to reassure him with calming conversation. He lifts the pressure off HOSHI, too, who feels weighed down by his role as head chef, with constant praise, saying, “You really did a good job!” The group mainly has JOSHUA to thank for their fantastic meal, who gently guides the younger members through the cooking process in his role as main sous-chef. We get another look at JOSHUA’s attentiveness when he asks WONWOO if he wants his bibim-guksu spicy and tailors the dish to his friend’s tastes. And though JOSHUA doesn’t feel the need to put too much effort into his own meals, he carefully serves the film crew’s food on beautiful dishes—another testament to his selflessness. Even while peeling a nearly bottomless pile of shrimp, JOSHUA remarks with a smile that he’ll feel happy so long as everyone else enjoys the meal. His warmth touches not only the boys he sits around the dining table with but the hearts of CARAT watching at home as well. You could say his charisma is as warm and soft as a bowl of freshly cooked rice.
JUN, the group’s loyal, loving cat
With his big, beautiful eyes, quietly coy demeanor, and occasional flashes of quirky charm, CARAT loves to point out how JUN resembles a cat in both appearance and personality. And true to his nickname, JUN gives off feline vibes all throughout “NANA bnb.” After wrapping up a prior engagement in China, JUN flies straight over to meet up with the rest of the group, who welcome him with more fervor than anticipated. Sure enough, he’s in full cat mode when he bashfully demonstrates his dance moves for “_WORLD” for them and the film crew, like a cat cautiously warming up to the same people it’s always lived with. And when HOSHI, his friend and one-time roommate, showers him over and over with words of affection, JUN puts on a coy attitude, playfully pushing him away with, “Tell me once!!!”
But just like a cat, JUN can’t help but shower his fellow group members with affection from time to time and suddenly melt their hearts. On the bus ride to the guesthouse, JUN hits quite the windfall after getting five back-to-back bingos in a game of “What are you saying, Owner Na?” Sure, he put in the effort and earned that money, but when DINO suggests spending it on eating out, JUN simply chuckles good-naturedly. In fact, he buys most of the ingredients the group cooks with himself, and doesn’t have any complaints about it, either. While the rest of the group makes themselves lunch or just enjoys some downtime, JUN quietly makes snacks on his own. It’s clear how much an eye for detail he has when he recalls how much the group likes hotteok and it reminds him of the bing he ate from street vendors in China while filming there. As the others laud him for the amazing bing he made them, JUN attempts to downplay it with a sheepish smile, but he’s betrayed by the trademark satisfaction he can’t stop from reaching the raised corners of his mouth.
In a group as expressive and outgoing as SEVENTEEN, JUN is relatively quiet, but on the way back from a grocery run, he begins to regale them with stories ranging from his old trainee days to his adventures while filming in China. He keeps leader S.COUPS and the young DINO hanging on every word of his many recollections right up until the moment they meet up with SEUNGKWAN. As seen in the way he opens up completely when it’s the rest of SEVENTEEN he’s talking to, instead of directly expressing himself when he’s feeling grateful or missing someone, he’s attentive to the things the others like and gives whatever’s needed of him without hesitation. For SEVENTEEN, that’s the way their cat shows his love for them.

HOSHI, the guesthouse’s ultimate multitasker
As the group sits down to lunch at a local Korean-style Chinese restaurant together, JOSHUA pipes up: “We can’t do this without HOSHI.” When the food arrives on the table and JOSHUA sets to mixing the starch sheet salad, HOSHI steps right up to hold the bowl steady, earning a thumbs up from both JOSHUA and DK. But it doesn’t stop there. When THE 8’s grilling minari and says he needs a big bowl, HOSHI jumps to his feet and brings one right over, proving him to be a quick-thinking, quick-on-his-feet sous-chef. He helps clean up just as promptly after they’re done eating, then, saying someone should keep S.COUPS company while he does the dishes, volunteers himself to the job and cutely chatters away. His cooking skills may not be quite up to the level of some of the rest of the group, but HOSHI makes up for it in other ways, bustling about to help out wherever he can.
HOSHI wears many hats in “NANA bnb.” He takes on the role of announcer, loudly calling out to the other members after they return from grocery shopping to let them know when it’s time to eat. He sits across from DK to help with his struggle to grind coffee beans. He’s the chef portioning fried food out to ensure everyone gets their fair share, the caring server handing out food according to everyone’s individual tastes, and the official taste tester giving the final verdict on THE 8’s hot pot sauce. On top of that, HOSHI’s a master of the dance challenge, teaching moves to help promote his new song with WOOZI as well as to prepare for a challenge rematch against the reigning victor, producer Na Young-seok.
Despite being hopeless with a knife and leaving THE 8 agog when he confuses Leonardo DiCaprio for David Beckham during a Character Quiz of “guess who,” he zips here and there around the guesthouse, always ready to lend a helping hand. No matter what’s needed, HOSHI’s up to the task, and he’ll complete it with boundless energy. As JOSHUA says, he’s an essential piece of the SEVENTEEN puzzle.
WONWOO, working hard to play pastoral
The idea to kidnap SEVENTEEN a second time and take them to a guesthouse stemmed from the crew’s desire to film a show like “Three Meals a Day” with the large group. That other Na Young-seok series promotes a self-sufficient lifestyle in a tranquil rural setting, working hard to gather up ingredients, cooking your own meals, and enjoying unrestricted leisure in the moments in between. As an avid viewer of producer Na’s show, WONWOO perfectly embodies this vision during the four-day stay at “NANA bnb,” exercising diligence when he works and letting all his cares go when he unwinds.
One look at the front yard of “NANA bnb” and it’s easy to see just how hardworking WONWOO is. He helps S.COUPS with lighting the fire from day one, and he can be found every day thereafter sitting by the fireplace, diligently playing his part in the meal prep process by tossing on firewood as needed. He also becomes a regular fixture at the dishwashing station in the front yard—a recurring task that leads him to knock 0.1 points off his rating of the otherwise perfect guesthouse for a final score of 4.9 out of five. He also proves more than capable in an assistant’s role alongside chef JOSHUA, washing lettuce and mincing garlic with exquisite efficiency. After the group plays “guess who” for dinner ingredients, WONWOO stays behind in the playroom to tidy up the chairs and deal with the trash—a testament to his thoughtful nature.
WONWOO never walks away from a game on the show empty-handed. As MINGYU says, “Whenever WONWOO meets Young-seok he wins a prize!” While the others go for groceries at NANA Store, WONWOO sets his sights on the pair of rustic fur-lined Uggs and manages to win them during quiz time. He astonishes everyone with his bottomless music knowledge during the scholarship quiz the second evening and wins himself some primo Italian wine, and he comes in third during the roulette-style race for daily necessities the next day, securing the hand warmers he personally requested. On the other hand, when he’s given a reprieve from lunch duty, WONWOO dashes off right to his room to enjoy some peace and solitude. With a blissful, innocuous smile, SEVENTEEN’s sloth indulges in a nap for some golden downtime. At the guesthouse, WONWOO becomes the living embodiment of the “work hard, play hard” mantra. His moments of well-earned rest after toiling away without a word are so wonderful to see, even viewers can’t help but feel at ease.
WOOZI, the angel who can do it all
Following “NANA bnb,” the members of SEVENTEEN wrap things up with a real episode of “Chattering with Nah” ahead of their 10th-anniversary comeback. When producer Na Young-seok asks what they discovered about each other during the shoot, they all point to WOOZI’s cooking skills. WOOZI humbly brushes it off like it was no big deal, but his culinary prowess all throughout “NANA bnb” proves he was a master in hiding this whole time. From quietly watching SEUNGKWAN and VERNON struggle to light a fire before stepping in to rearrange the firewood and get the fire going in no time, to taking leftover pork jowl from the fridge and frying it up for a unique twist on their lunch of deep-fried dish with rice, WOOZI proves himself to be a maestro in the kitchen, taking the rest of the group by surprise. But WOOZI’s talents don’t stop at cooking. In a random play dance challenge with ingredients for hot pot at stake, WOOZI shows off his unrivaled ability to memorize choreography by heart. In a game where a wrong move means you lose the ingredient you’re fighting for, WOOZI’s tasked with safeguarding what’s universally agreed to be the most crucial ingredient in hot pot: beef. Fortunately, he doesn’t falter even as the others grow increasingly flustered with countless variations of dance moves and transitions between them. WOOZI, meanwhile, lives up to his idol title and flawlessly recalls nearly all the moves.
Whether he’s cooking or playing games, there doesn’t seem to be anything WOOZI can’t do, always popping up to lend the others a hand whenever they need it. On their second day in the guesthouse, he keeps watch over the fire and assists the group tasked with making lunch—JOSHUA plus the self-proclaimed culinary rookies HOSHI, SEUNGKWAN, and VERNON—even though he doesn’t have to. WOOZI never boasts about the important role he plays in the group—one that makes him absolutely integral to SEVENTEEN, as JOSHUA points out—but while he may play it cool on the outside, he’s incredibly warmhearted on the inside. You can see it when the rest of the group struggles with the choreography to “_WORLD” during their game and WOOZI quickly counts out the beat for them and teaches them the right moves. And the group’s quick to note that he’s been almost like a fairy godmother to them like this at all times over the past 10 years. During the staged 10th-anniversary party prank, the group reminisces about their earlier days, recalling how WOOZI frequently used to treat them to meals despite their somewhat strained circumstances. As one of the older trainees who got started earlier, WOOZI felt a strong sense of responsibility, a feeling that he undoubtedly carried through his decade-long journey as SEVENTEEN’s main producer and vocal team leader. That might explain why, all throughout “NANA bnb,” WOOZI’s there to be everyone’s guardian angel and reach out a friendly helping hand.

THE 8, made for the bnb life
Shin Hyo-jung, who produced and directed “NANA bnb,” revealed in an interview how THE 8, who doesn’t usually sleep well in new places and doesn’t typically eat much, “slept like a baby” at the guesthouse and enjoyed the food being served up so much that he actually put on a little weight. Even the SEVENTEEN member himself brings it up during a channel fullmoon livestream shot at the BnB to celebrate HOSHI and WOOZI’s album release, saying he was surprised at how well he ate and slept. The guesthouse, as it turns out, might just be smack dab in the middle of THE 8’s personal comfort zone.
The staged 10th-anniversary party prank opens with dancing down a red carpet, and when it comes to his turn, THE 8 confidently gets up and puts on a flawless performance worthy of “HOT.” When SEUNGKWAN jokingly describes THE 8 as someone “HOSHI has been raising,” THE 8 glances over at HOSHI like it’s nothing. As VERNON says, “the student became the master.” During their game of “guess who,” THE 8—named the most fluent in Korean of the non-Korean members by AI—drops a truth bomb on the others and tells them they’re taking too long to answer with the perfectly fluent quip, “Let’s just go!” He’s right at home when he’s with the rest of SEVENTEEN, and it shows in how funny he can be.
Another of THE 8’s many charms is his culinary talent, seen alongside his surprising appetite. Unlike the rest of the group, who excel in Korean dishes, THE 8, being from China, has a knack for Chinese cuisine. One standout creation is the coconut chicken he makes for a late-night meal and that impresses even Na Young-seok despite him being taken aback by the combination of coconut water and chicken at first. THE 8 is an expert when it comes to hot pot, having previously chosen it for SEVENTEEN’s monthly meeting, and when he takes on the role of head chef for their third dinner at the guesthouse, he unveils his own custom hot pot sauce combo. It’s so tasty that it even became a fad among the “NANA bnb” film crew long after filming ended. Maybe it’s spending time with his decade-long companions in the fresh air and beautiful surroundings, but watching THE 8 immerse himself in the “game, food, sleep” routine on “NANA bnb” makes him twice as charming as he already was. Watching him eat well and rest better than ever, you not only get to see SEVENTEEN’s family-like bond on full display, but you also can’t help but be excited for his future appearances in SEVENTEEN variety shows to come.
MINGYU, a foodie in his element seeking the poetic
Even at the lavish buffet for the staged 10th-anniversary party prank, MINGYU shows up with the kimbap roll he was craving in hand. The moment he hears about the guesthouse trip, he immediately envisions grilling samgyeopsal, kimchi, and soju on a cauldron—a fiery combination. MINGYU, SEVENTEEN’s foodie with his own established style, also happens to be the same Homemaker MING who, nine years ago on “SEVENTEEN’s One Fine Day: 13 Castaway Boys,” fried up some raw chicken to feed the rest of the group. So, with a big kitchen and a wood-fired stove at their disposal in “NANA bnb,” MINGYU thrives like a fish in water, fully embracing his position as SEVENTEEN’s resident gourmand foodie. On the first night there, he succeeds at the tricky task of cooking up 13 servings of rice in a cauldron and ends up collapsing in his seat over how good it tastes (“It’s so great!”). After indulging in some samgyeopsal, kimchi jjigae, and fried rice, MINGYU debates with great seriousness whether to top it all off with some ramyeon and rice, leaving even DK and VERNON, his companions of 10 years, in disbelief at his voracious appetite. And despite a lackluster round of games leading to a lack of ingredients, MINGYU improvises an anchovy-broth sujebi to fill everyone up the next morning—and true to his big appetite, he makes sure to follow it up with ramyeon and kimchi jeon.
But the essence of MINGYU’s foodie mindset isn’t just about seeking out food that tastes great. For him, the secret ingredient in every meal is finding something poetic and idyllic. During their first dinner, MINGYU quickly hops up to bring out some soju so they can all toast the perfect outing to mark their 10th anniversary with a signature “salute!” The next morning, after a hearty breakfast, he can’t resist the makgeolli he bought in town, and in doing so, lets the group enjoy some kimchi jeon and pajeon under sunny skies and surrounded by perfect scenery. Thanks to MINGYU, SEVENTEEN’s table is always brimming with feeling.
Even when he’s washing dishes, eating everyone else’s leftover ramyeon with rubber gloves on, or sitting on the bare ground and eating kimchi jeon right off the cauldron lid, MINGYU finds absolute joy in simply making and sharing food with the rest of the group. His signature phrase “I don’t know” has earned him the nickname Kim Don’t Know (“Mola”), but there’s one thing MINGYU knows better than anyone else, and that’s idyllic vibes. Fueled by his passion for cooking up those kinds of meals, MINGYU keeps the “NANA bnb” fire burning at all times and makes sure the dining table’s never bare.
DK, the happy virus spreading through the guesthouse
The film crew promised themselves they’d get some footage of the SEVENTEEN members looking sleek before taking them to the guesthouse, so they roll out the red carpet for the staged 10th-anniversary party prank. They set things up to feel like an awards ceremony, but it’s back to comic chaos the instant DK pulls off some quick steps to the music. Dressed to impress yet fully committed to the bit and even using props to get everyone excited, DK’s eyes burn with a determination to make everyone laugh. Even when they visit a Korean-Chinese restaurant for lunch on the third day, DK can’t sit still. His funny and entirely unprompted facial expressions and hand gestures instantly draw all eyes, and cameras, toward him, sending the group into fits of laughter. They say it’s not that you smile because you’re happy but that you feel happy when you smile, and DK’s ever-cheerful grin is so infectious that anyone around him can’t help but brim with joy.
Living up to his role as SEVENTEEN’s “happy virus,” DK spreads his contagious optimism to every corner of the guesthouse during the group’s four-day stay. There’s a lack of blankets in the room he shares with WOOZI and VERNON, so he has to use a mat intended for the floor. Even awkwardly wrapped up in the stiff floor blanket, he smiles and says that it’s weirdly comforting, amusing his roommates to no end. Later, during a game of charades to decide who will make gomtang for breakfast, DK proves to be a clever actor, able to get the idea of eomuk udon across. He even illustrates “dol,” the middle syllable in “odolppyeo,” by using homonyms (“rock,” for which he pointed to his head) and similar-sounding verbs (which he conveyed by doing a spin). As always, DK will go to any lengths to make people laugh.
Wherever DK goes, smile flowers follow—that’s the boundless positive energy of his happy virus at work. Fueled by the hearty meals his fellow group members cook, his ability to laugh off a blanket shortage or losing at games is just a part of his uniquely positive “DK mindset.” The happy virus doesn’t stop at the walls of the guesthouse, either—it spreads as far as to CARAT watching at home.

SEUNGKWAN, just the Vitamin Boo needed to adjust to BnB life
“Are we going on ‘NANA TOUR’?” That’s what SEUNGKWAN innocently asks the film crew, but it’s enough to make their hearts skip a beat. Later, when it’s revealed that the fake “Chattering with Nah” episode is actually a pretext for “NANA bnb,” he can’t hide his excitement. Having already lamented the end of his recent two-week break, the SEVENTEEN member happily boards the bus to Boeun, looking forward to a refreshing four-day vacation with his fellow group members. But for SEUNGKWAN, the group’s undisputed variety show expert, the real challenge turns out to be cooking. Right from the outset, SEUNGKWAN clearly lacks confidence in the kitchen. When asked to prepare green onions for making jeon, he goes full hairstylist mode, lopping off the white stems entirely, much to the shock of everyone on set. When he’s next on lunch duty alongside VERNON—another in the lineup of culinary rookies—the two get flustered as they struggle just to light a fire. Despite his rocky start, SEUNGKWAN makes progress by the final morning there. Teaming up with Na Young-seok as his assistant, the SEVENTEEN member personally cooks rice in the cauldron for the group and even manages to make some doenjang jjigae. Cooking three meals a day—a core tenant of “NANA bnb” life—becomes a matter of personal growth for cooking newbie SEUNGKWAN, and much of his rapid progress is thanks to the support from everyone around him. Because of the words of encouragement the rest of the group gives SEUNGKWAN for his first try at cooking duty, plus some hands-on guidance from “Three Meals a Day” producer Na Young-seok—teaching him everything from peeling onions to making rice and cooking jjigae—SEUNGKWAN adjusts completely to life at the guesthouse. No doubt it’s something his fans watching are proud of.
SEUNGKWAN’s first attempt at cooking rice over the fire is so noteworthy that it’s even captured with a helicam. His culinary adventure quickly becomes a focal point of “NANA bnb” and a journey to cheer along. This wave of support stems from SEUNGKWAN himself, the Vitamin Boo whose bright energy lights up the guesthouse at all times. When a nervous VERNON correctly answers a question during their game of “guess who,” no one’s happier than SEUNGKWAN as he showers VERNON with praise. Later, seeing his fellow group members tearing up from smoke getting in their eyes while cooking, the “Boondle of love” himself runs over to NANA Store to earn swimming goggles for them. As sous-chef, even when peeling shrimp for the first time or tending the fire, SEUNGKWAN works through the tasks given him with the utmost determination. And though he might look drained going through the hectic process of making breakfast, a single compliment is all it takes for him to beam with renewed energy and push forward. Watching him, it’s impossible not to cheer him on. Even after 10 years as an idol, SEUNGKWAN’s character arc continues on as he gives his all and embraces new experiences, making him an indispensable part of the fun of “NANA bnb.”
VERNON, looking to do things “my way”—together
While the rest of the group changes into baggy t-shirts for bed, VERNON conspicuously pairs his group uniform pajama pants with a long-sleeve plaid shirt buttoned right up to the neck. He even has a personal aesthetic when hanging laundry, ensuring the towels are perfectly symmetrical in color and shape. At one point, VERNON sets off alone towards town, motivated solely by how good the hotteok he had for dessert was. In SEVENTEEN, a group easily described as boisterous and bustling, VERNON stands out for being the only one to do things “my way.” During the scholarship quiz, VERNON correctly blurts out “Nikola Tesla” before the question is even finished being asked, explaining the necessary background knowledge to the others. The scene recalls his curiosity during “NANA TOUR with SEVENTEEN” a year prior, when he soaked up local information with more enthusiasm than anyone else. Even within a group of 13 uniquely distinct personalities, VERNON’s quirky, absolutely one-of-a-kind individuality adds a whole new layer of fun to “NANA bnb.”
Ironically, VERNON’s fierce independence is what gives him such fascinating chemistry with the other members of the group. While playing charades, VERNON attempts to mime “Hawaiian pizza” with eccentric gestures, leaving JOSHUA stumped. But they’re very understanding after the game and apologize to one another, perfectly capturing the chill vibe of the English-speaking duo also known as ROCKETz. VERNON’s also a member of 218 Bros. with guesthouse roommate DK. When DK becomes oddly fixated on wondering why you “feel refreshed and light in body” after taking a shower, VERNON plays along the whole time with witty banter, apparently as curious as his roommate is. VERNON and SEUNGKWAN are both 98z babies and culinary rookies, with hilarious chemistry as they try and make lunch together. Meanwhile, VERNON’s laser focus on specific interests pairs unexpectedly well with MINGYU’s competitive spirit when it comes to marathon seven-hour sessions of xiangqi (Chinese chess), giving birth to another duo, Xiangqiz.
In HOSHI’s words, it’s great “to have all kinds of people,” and even after 10 years together, the harmony that arises from all their differences highlights how they’re practically family, even to this day—and VERNON’s quirky charm on “NANA bnb” is proof of that. And that’s how the world of SEVENTEEN holds together so well: No matter who he’s with, VERNON has great chemistry with them and keeps things entertaining.
DINO, the beloved youngest group member of 10 years
Every idol group has their youngest member, but as the youngest member in a group of 13, DINO’s position in SEVENTEEN is certainly unique. For viewers at home, DINO’s humble introduction in the first episode of “NANA bnb” is a perfect reflection of what life’s been like for him over the past decade as the youngest SEVENTEEN member.
DINO has long been a favorite target of the mischievous members of SEVENTEEN. When he dances in to “Snap Shoot” during the staged 10th-anniversary party prank, the others feign shock as SEUNGKWAN gleefully mimics his moves. On the final day, during the relay drawing game—where the prize is a birthday feast for the group—the group jokes that they should kick DINO out anytime he makes a misstep. But there’s an old Korean saying: Even a dog can recite poems after three years in school. After 10 years of putting up with SEVENTEEN’s shenanigans, sweet young DINO has learned to playfully clap back when he’s teased. When SEUNGKWAN jokingly thanks DINO for sticking it out as the youngest member, DINO shows he’s quick on his feet by firing back with, “I endured for a reason,” topping it off with a heartwarming comment about everyone sticking together for the long haul for all their own reasons. As the group talks about in the channel fullmoon livestream on the final day of filming, DINO has transformed over the past 10 years into the proverbial honey badger of the group, ready for anything that’s thrown at him.
The moments where they feel like a real family, like how HOSHI and DINO always curl up together, demonstrate how deeply the older members cherish the one-and-only little brother of the group. The secret to their affection lies in DINO’s enduring charm. In a group as big as SEVENTEEN, it’s easy to lose sight of what you’re supposed to do when, for example, making food together, but DINO’s never one to sit idle and always finds ways to pitch in. Whether getting the table ready, chopping up ingredients, or assisting the others, DINO’s thoughtfulness shines through. At the hot pot party on the third day there, DINO puts on some music using the speaker he won earlier. He keeps the party going all throughout the meal, encouraging everyone into a dance party in typical SEVENTEEN fashion. DINO debuted at the tender age of 16, fueled by his boundless passion, and has only grown and matured since then, thoughtfully contemplating what it means to always be a truly great idol. But in the eyes of the older members of the group, DINO will always be sweet, adorable Chan. The playful back-and-forth between youthful DINO and his groupmates is more than enough to put smiles on CARAT’s faces and reminisce over the past 10 years of the group.
JEONGHAN, the crucial final piece of the “NANA bnb” puzzle
While leader S.COUPS couldn’t be there for the show “NANA TOUR,” it’s the group’s second-oldest member, JEONGHAN, who isn’t able to make it for “NANA bnb.” But just as S.COUPS made his presence felt by joining the Italy trip via video call in that earlier series, JEONGHAN’s physical absence at the guesthouse hardly makes it feel like he’s missing entirely. From the eggiscoming headquarters to the bus, to the yard outside the guesthouse, JEONGHAN’s life-size cutout is a constant companion. MINGYU instinctively measures out not 12 but 13 portions of rice, and when a strong wind knocks over cardboard JEONGHAN, every single one of the other members calls out his name in concern. It just feels right that SEVENTEEN should be a group of 13, and the boys at the guesthouse make sure it always feels that way.
Whether it’s WONWOO defiantly setting up the sign asking to make a “little cheating” okay in the playroom, or JOSHUA and DK feeling they “need to act the role of JEONGHAN” and hiding the money from S.COUPS until he gives them some snacks, JEONGHAN’s hilarious trademark audacity and carefree attitude is alive and well. During the channel fullmoon livestream on the last day of filming, JOSHUA gives “NANA bnb” a 4.5-star rating, saying everything was perfect other than JEONGHAN not being there. Although his tone was light, the other SEVENTEEN members all agree they would’ve been truly thrilled if JEONGHAN had been able to join, and as sad as it is, they look forward to when they can all be together again at the same time. Sitting next to JEONGHAN’s cutout, they treat it like the real deal, speaking to him and taking good care of him. Even Na Young-seok gets in on it, pestering the AI that had named JEONGHAN the group member he would “hate the most” and trying to teach it that JEONGHAN is his favorite. Moments like these aren’t just funny but also highlight the genuine affection the crew holds for JEONGHAN. As producer Shin Hyo-jung said in an earlier interview, someday they hope to film with all 13 SEVENTEEN members together. No doubt we’re all looking forward to the deep connections we’ll get to watch again when JEONGHAN returns and the fully reunited group makes its next variety show.
