It was an unusually dynamic week for the “Billboard” 200. Five albums debuted in the Top 10. First, the top honors on the chart changed for the first time in two months. The new No. 1 was JACKBOYS and Travis Scott’s album “JACKBOYS 2.” JACKBOYS is a group with Scott at its center, featuring artists from his label Cactus Jack Records, including Sheck Wes, Don Toliver, Luxury Tax 50, and DJ CHASE B. The group released their debut album, “JACKBOYS,” in late 2019, giving them the first top album of the 2020s. Their sophomore album, “JACKBOYS 2,” came out this past July 13, so only five days of sales were reflected in the charts.  Despite missing out on sales for that first weekend, the album reached No. 4 in streaming with 95 million streams, equivalent to 72,000 units—not a massive figure considering the name recognition. It sold a staggering 160,000 copies, though, putting it at No. 1 on Top Album Sales and bringing its unit total to 232,000. This propelled it to No. 1 on the “Billboard” 200 as well, ahead of stiff competition from the likes of Justin Bieber’s “SWAG” and Morgan Wallen’s “I’m The Problem,” which would otherwise have been fighting it out for the top.

At No. 2 was Bieber’s album “SWAG,” released as a surprise and pulling in 163,000 units over the week. “SWAG” was streamed 200 million times, equal to 155,000 units. It marked Bieber’s highest weekly streams ever and put him at No. 1 on the Top Streaming Albums chart. The album sold 6,000 copies, placing it at No. 14 on Top Album Sales. Due to its surprise release, physical formats like CDs are not yet available but are slated for release in December.

Wallen’s album “I’m The Problem” came in at No. 3, moving 147,000 units over the week—a healthy figure that shows it could still reach No. 1 under different circumstances. It was No. 2 on the Top Streaming Albums chart.

At No. 4 was Clipse’s first new release in 16 years, “Let God Sort Em Out.” The album saw 118,000 units over the week, doing equally well in streaming and sales. It reached No. 5 in streaming with 77 million streams (59,000 units) and No. 4 in sales with 58,000 copies.

With new albums dominating the upper echelon, the soundtrack for “KPop Demon Hunters” dropped from No. 2 to No. 5. It was still the album with the biggest improvement week-over-week, however. It moved 85,000 units, with both streaming and album sales rising by at least 13%. The album was still No. 3 in streaming, having been streamed around 110 million times (79,000 units). It was also No. 17 in sales, selling 5,000 copies.

Debuting at No. 6 was “THIS IS FOR,” the new album from TWICE, who also make an appearance on the “KPop Demon Hunters” OST. This marked TWICE’s seventh time in the Top 10. The album moved 80,000 units, with sales accounting for 68,000 of those and putting it at No. 3 on Top Album Sales. It was streamed 16 million times, equivalent to 12,000 units.

ATEEZ’s EP “GOLDEN HOUR: Part.3” returned to the chart at No. 7. The album first debuted at No. 2 on the chart dated June 28. The return was thanks to the release of a deluxe version. Weekly figures reached 79,000 units based on combining those from both the original and deluxe releases and represented a 15-fold increase from the week previous. The album sold 70,000 copies, placing it at No. 2 on the Top Album Sales chart. It was also streamed 11 million times, equivalent to 8,000 units.

GIVĒON’s album “BELOVED” was the final newcomer to the Top 10, landing at No. 8. The album posted 44,000 units for the week. 36,000 of those came from 48 million streams, making it No. 7 in streaming for the week. The album sold 8,000 copies, placing it at No. 10 on the Top Album Sales chart.

Alex Warren’s single “Ordinary” held steady at No. 1 for a seventh week. Figures remained consistent with the previous week, seeing 19.6 million streams and 6,000 units’ worth of digital sales. The song was dominant across the board, hitting No. 4 on the Streaming Songs chart, No. 1 on Radio Songs, and No. 1 on Digital Song Sales.

Justin Bieber’s new album “SWAG” was backed by the single “DAISIES,” which debuted at No. 2. It marked Bieber’s 27th Top 10 hit, tying him with Janet Jackson at the 10th among all artists. Leading the pack is Drake with 81 Top 10s. “DAISIES” saw an impressive 27.6 million streams, landing at No. 1 on the Streaming Songs chart. It’s now the singer’s seventh No. 1 on Streaming.

Several albums debuted over the week and shook up the Hot 100. Out of the 21 tracks off Bieber’s “SWAG,” 16 entered the chart. In addition to “DAISIES” hitting No. 2, the rest fell between Nos. 17 and 86. Six tracks off JACKBOYS and Travis Scott’s album “JACKBOYS 2” came in between Nos. 50 and 93. Clipse’s “Let God Sort Em Out” added six more between No. 42 and No. 95. Together, these three albums introduced 28 new songs to the chart.

The influx only served to further highlight the ongoing impressive performance of tracks off the “KPop Demon Hunters” soundtrack. “Golden” entered the Top 5, climbing from No. 6 to No. 4. “Your Idol” also rose two spots, reaching No. 14. “How It’s Done” and “Soda Pop” saw even greater jumps, reaching No. 23 and No. 25, respectively. Soundtracks for animated movies typically revolve around one or two standout tracks, as was the case with “Let It Go” or “We Don’t Talk About Bruno,” but “KPop Demon Hunters” has four songs in the Top 30, plus four more songs between Nos. 41 and 90 that largely held steady from the previous week. Even with dozens of songs being pushed off the chart this week, not only did these eight OST tracks remain, but they climbed even higher.

Lastly, at No. 9, Teddy Swims’ single “Lose Control” hit a historic milestone. It became the first song ever to spend 100 weeks on the Hot 100. The single simultaneously extended its record for the longest Top 10 run to 70 weeks.

BLACKPINK is back all together with a world tour and new music, marking their first project together since 2022’s “BORN PINK.” Their single “JUMP” debuted at No. 1 on both the Global 200 and Global 200 Excl. US charts over the week. It’s now their third No. 1 on the Global 200 following “Pink Venom” and “Shut Down” and their fourth on the Global 200 Excl. US after songs like “Lovesick Girls.” “JUMP” reached the Global 200 on the back of 120 million streams and 14,000 downloads. It’s the first song to surpass 100 million streams globally since Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars’ duet “Die With A Smile” in March, ending a four-month drought.

The members of BLACKPINK spent late last year and early this year pursuing fruitful solo projects. “APT.” marked its 39th week on the Hot 100 this week and climbed to No. 40—major longevity in today’s market. “Ruby” rewrote the standards by which K-pop solo albums will be judged. JISOO’s had her own exciting acting career, while JENNIE and LISA broke into Hollywood with much fanfare through different HBO series. When the group’s 2025 comeback was officially announced, it promised more than just a reunion for the sake of the tour. Instead, it hinted at the integration of their personal brands and images expanded through their solo ventures, while setting the stage for the group’s third act.

BLACKPINK premiered their new single during the Korea leg that kicked off their “DEADLINE” tour. The buzz surrounding the group’s long-awaited new music grew exponentially before it was even released thanks to videos that fans took of the performance, ultimately leading to explosive streaming numbers. The track broke away from the usual trap/EDM style, trying on a hardstyle sound fit for European dance festivals and brought to life by producer Diplo. But the song remains characteristically BLACKPINK thanks to the inclusion of their iconic “BLACKPINK in your area” line. A callback to the Spice Girls song “Spice Up Your Life” ties the group to the broader global legacy of girl groups, too.

The “DEADLINE” tour is just getting started and will soon move to Europe and around Asia. We can expect to hear more details about the group’s upcoming album as the tour continues on, and there’s a good chance audiences will have the rare opportunity to hear new songs live before they’re released. “JUMP” emphasizes how BLACKPINK’s new album will continue to expand in terms of both genre and overall sound as their solo work has, while remaining powerful enough to captivate both fans and general listeners alike. Following the four girls’ solo efforts over the past year has been a delight, and the new era of BLACKPINK promises to be just as thrilling.
