Main rapper in PENTAGON, singer in the band KIK, and making music solo under the name jungwooseok—where these three different paths converge, we witness the raw emotion that is WOOSEOK. Evolving over and over with each new turn, the idol keeps racing forward toward his musical goals with honest lyrics, and below, WOOSEOK tells us a little more about those songs, and some of his favorites from other artists.

“SIMPLE” (KIK)
WOOSEOK: This song’s about not getting caught up thinking about the past or the future and just living for today in the moment.

“Timer” (KIK)
WOOSEOK: This song was inspired by the 2010 movie “Buried.” It’ll make you feel like you’re running to the point of exhaustion or being chased by someone from the intro right to the end.

“LP club” (KIK)
WOOSEOK: This song’s called “LP club,” which is short for “Love and Peace club,” which is exactly what the song’s all about. You’ll get even more out of it if you think about someone who’s a hero to you or who’s always been by your side while you listen to it.

“Forward” (jungwooseok)
WOOSEOK: This is a song about being dedicated to someone, going forward to them without faltering or wavering. I think it’s an approachable song even for people who might be hearing my music for the first time thanks to the unique way the song progresses and the cool, refreshing sound.

“Runner” (jungwooseok)
WOOSEOK: This song’s an honest expression of the loneliness, emotional resolve, and energy that have accompanied me on my musical journey. I hope it makes people even more excited for what’s coming next from me when they hear it.

“Mind” (jungwooseok)
WOOSEOK: I wrote this song with my fans in mind and poured my heart out into the lyrics. I know it might feel a bit raw and unrefined, but my intention behind it was to be completely open and unembellished about how I feel.

“Take Five” (Seo Taiji)
WOOSEOK: I felt freed when I heard the lines, “An unrestrained life where you can never despair / That’s what it looks like to be happy.” It feels like every sound in the song fills up your entire being, leaving you feeling like you’ve seen the light.

“Once” (Liam Gallagher)
WOOSEOK: This song really resonates with me. It makes you look back on all the most precious moments of your life. I’m always confident this is a good choice when I’m recommending songs to people, that’s how much I love it. It’s made me feel so many things.

“Letters To You” (Finch)
WOOSEOK: This is an absolute masterpiece of a song, an intense and honest look at the uncertainties of youth. When I feel really small, this song picks me up and gives me the courage to be bold. Listen to this song and start a fire in your heart.

“Maybe Tomorrow” (Stereophonics)
WOOSEOK: This song pulls you in with its simple melody and honest lyrics. If you’re dealing with uncertainty, this is the song I want to recommend to you since it can help you find solace. It’s also in my top three songs.
