At the end of the year, even as the air turns cold, our hearts are full—and perhaps that’s thanks to the quiet warmth of family who stay by our side. To mark the year’s close, Weverse artists share heartfelt stories of the siblings who mean the world to them. Introducing the warm, gift-like year-end moments from E-Tion of ONF, HUENINGKAI of TOMORROW X TOGETHER, Sumin of STAYC, SUNGHOON of ENHYPEN, KIM CHAEWON of LE SSERAFIM, CHANELLE MOON of FIFTY FIFTY, JIHOON of TWS, and HYUNMIN of ARrC.

E-Tion of ONF: When I was in elementary school, we had to do insect collecting as a summer vacation assignment every year. I could never catch anything, so one summer I went up into the mountains with my older brother. We searched for insects until evening, but it suddenly got dark and we got lost. We kept walking, both of us crying the whole time. By chance, a friend of our maternal grandmother spotted us and put us in a taxi to get us home. When we finally arrived, we were in serious trouble. (Laughs)

HUENINGKAI of TOMORROW X TOGETHER: Thanks to my sisters, we took a trip to a ski resort together this January. It had been nearly ten years since I’d gone skiing with my family, which made it feel even more special. We decided to go on a whim, and it was the right call. Ending the year with family always feels good.

Sumin of STAYC: After recently moving in with my sister, we took a spontaneous hotel staycation together. Planning and taking a trip with just the two of us felt like a pretty big step, which made it all the more exciting and memorable. It rained that day, so we shared an umbrella while shopping around Myeongdong, then swam at the hotel and ordered room service. It’s a time I remember as truly happy and special.

SUNGHOON of ENHYPEN: My younger sister took her college entrance exam this year, and I wanted to support her after seeing how hard she’s worked all year. I bought her a smartphone as a small way to cheer her on. I’m not always great at expressing my feelings, but I was happy to show my support.

KIM CHAEWON of LE SSERAFIM: I often go on drives with my sister. One day, while talking about our mom’s dreams, we both suddenly broke down in tears. We were talking about a dream she hopes to achieve for her 60th birthday, and it just hit us. As we’ve been chasing our own dreams and living our lives, it felt like our mom’s time had quietly stood still—and a mix of gratitude and guilt passed through me. Having someone who understands you without words, just by looking into your eyes, is incredibly comforting.

CHANELLE MOON of FIFTY FIFTY: Recently, my younger brother showed me screenshots of his year-end music stats—his most-listened songs, albums, and artists. Almost every month, I showed up as his top artist. And when I saw that his favorite artist of the year was FIFTY FIFTY, I was genuinely moved. He’s always telling his friends about FIFTY FIFTY, and he often reminds me how proud he is of me and how grateful he feels to have me as his sister. Every time I sense that support, it gives me real strength—and reminds me just how meaningful family encouragement can be.

JIHOON of TWS: One of my favorite memories is going to a ski resort with my family at the end of last year. My sister and I danced around, copying each other, and our family seemed genuinely happy watching us have fun. We used to go skiing together often when we were younger, and those childhood memories came rushing back. Because of that, last winter stayed with me as a moment that felt especially warm and joyful.

HYUNMIN of ARrC: When I was still a baby and couldn’t even walk, there was a moment when a large wardrobe nearly toppled over onto me as I crawled around. My sister threw herself against it and managed to stop it, saving me—but since I couldn’t even talk yet, I had no idea what was happening and apparently just wandered out of the room. Hearing my sister scream in shock, my parents rushed in, and thankfully, she wasn’t hurt either. It’s probably one of the biggest reasons I should always listen to my sister.
