PARKMOONCHI’s been on a mission to revive the spirit of 1990s Korean pop songs and rework it into a modern sound, taking well-worn memories and turning them into something shiny and new. Her unique efforts in the indie scene have begun to sweep their way across the K-pop world as well, influencing artists from &TEAM to TWS and NCT WISH. “MISMATCH” (&TEAM)
PARKMOONCHI: A lot of people said they instantly thought of my music when they heard this song. It was a really fun and new experience since this one was a little different in that I got to work on both the melody and the lyrics. Please show the album some love!
“SODA SODA” (TWS)
PARKMOONCHI: This song was released in Japan, and the response over there’s been amazing, so I’ve been feeling great lately. It’s got a lot of what I love in it so I really like this one!
“Surf” (NCT WISH)
PARKMOONCHI: I really, really love NCT WISH’s recent Japanese songs, too, but of all their music I’ve worked on, “Surf” is the one I’ve seen get an outpouring of love from fans. Especially the bassline!
“The Story Of The Year” feat. Wonwoo (PARKMOONCHI)
PARKMOONCHI: If I had to pick just one of my songs with the very best vibe, this would be it. It’s got that lush, dreamy feeling you only get with Korean music that I’ve loved ever since I was a kid.
“Bah!” feat. Lee Jin Ah, Stella Jang (PARKMOONCHI)
PARKMOONCHI: This song’s practically an instrumental. It rides less on lyrics and more on the strength of the girls’ presence. You end up really zoned in on the sound and the music itself. It was so fun and liberating working on it! I hope to give people a lot of instrumental tracks in the future!
“Fluffy Puffy” (PARKMOONCHI)
PARKMOONCHI: I made this one for a Milkis ad, and it came together super fast. From laying down the very first drum kick to Ru & Ra’s guide vocals, everyone was so locked in that it was all done in just six hours. I decided to include it here because I still really like it and I wanted people to see I’m capable of this kind of song too! Haha
“Things” (Louis Cole)
PARKMOONCHI: Something about this song just gives me this strange feeling start to finish. Every time I hear it, it makes me want to write something exactly like it. But I’m warning you, don’t listen to it in the middle of the night … ☠️☠️☠️💧💧💧
“Bittersweet” (Louis The Child)
PARKMOONCHI: Do I just like things by people with the name Louis? I’ve loved this song forever. It’s amazing, and every time I hear it, I can’t believe how perfect the balance is!
