“We meet every year on December 24. It just feels right.” Yoon Jisung is back with a winter single album, December. 24, and with it, a promise to see BABAL during the Christmas season. Weverse Magazine asked the idol for his thoughts on his new winter song, “December. 24,” which he helped write with the hope that it would help his listeners feel like every day is Christmas. He also gave some recommendations for songs that will help keep you warm during the chilly winter season.

“December. 24” (Yoon Jisung)

Yoon Jisung: This song’s about people who always meet exactly once a year, on December 24—Christmas Eve. I wrote it because I wanted to create a fairytale-like story about how I always meet my fans [BABAL] every Christmas ever since I left the army. Listen to this song whenever you want to feel the Christmas spirit this winter!

“Hi, Spring” (Yoon Jisung)

Yoon Jisung: I personally really like the song “Hi, Spring” from my album Dear diary. It’s even better listening to it when the weather’s getting chilly like it is now.

“When would it be” (Yoon Hyun Sang)

Yoon Jisung: I did this song for an evaluation when I was a trainee—back in the cold winter, when I would think about all the people who would someday listen to my songs, and then kept practicing hard. When I hear this song, I’m reminded of my winter trainee days, singing in that basement studio. And now I’m singing my songs for people in the wintertime, too.

“Snow in California” (Ariana Grande)

Yoon Jisung: I’ve been hearing this song a lot since winter started. The cute lyrics and the melody really make winter come alive.

“Merry-Chri” (BoA)

Yoon Jisung: This song feels like new every time I listen to it. I don’t know if it’s because I’m slowly getting older, but when I hear it now, I’m awash with emotion and I feel like it’s bringing me comfort after such a busy year. Recommended!

“The Snowman” (Jeong Seung Hwan)

Yoon Jisung: I like this one because the lyrics are beautiful. Maybe it’s the combination of Jeong Seung Hwan’s vocals and IU’s lyrics, but it makes the cold winter feel warmer.

“Snow Prince” (SS501)

Yoon Jisung: I listen to this song whenever winter comes. Back in my day(?),I listened to this song whenever I wanted to become a snow prince myself. And of course I still listen to it every time I want to become one. (laughs)

“White” (Fin.K.L)

Yoon Jisung: The song lives up to the hype. You can listen to this song all year round—whether you want to get that winter feeling in summer, or just enjoy winter in actual winter. I think I’ll listen to it a lot this winter, too.

“Sweety You” (Urban Zakapa)

Yoon Jisung: From the old days of Cyworld. Urban Zakapa has been responsible for my winter background music for years. I listened to this song every morning in winter when I was on my way to school. It makes me miss those mornings from my school days when I would listen to this song in the snow.
