BUMZU has infinitely broadened his musical horizons as a vocalist, singer-songwriter, and producer. Here’s a selection of music pieces that reflect the memories and tastes of BUMZU, who has showcased diverse collaborations with many musicians including SEVENTEEN and BAEKHO.

SEVENTEEN - “Circles”

BUMZU: This song holds a special place in my heart. I put in a lot of effort to capture the oy, overwhelming emotions, and sadness all at the same time. I remember holding my breath until WOOZI was done recording his portion, then bursting into tears as soon as I pressed the space bar on my keyboard.

BAEKHO - “Elevator”

BUMZU: It was a challenge to reinterpret J.Y. Park’s legendary hit, “Elevator” for BAEKHO. The original song was such a “mega hit” that any misinterpretation could be damaging for both BAEKHO and J.Y. Park, making it a sensitive task. I wanted to highlight BAEKHO’s sexiness as much as possible, so arranging the lyrics, melodies, and tracks were all quite tricky. But I was pleased that BAEKHO put up a great performance. I wonder how J.Y. Park felt about it.

BSS (SEVENTEEN) – “Fighting” (Feat. Lee Young Ji)

BUMZU: Actually, I was working on this song as the lead single for SEVENTEEN when their seventh mini-album and the lead single “Left & Right” were released in 2020. Of course, my plan fell through completely, but the feedback from my fellow company members that it would suit BSS better was right, so I had nothing more to say. From then on, I kept chanting, “Let’s go, BSS album release!” whenever I had the chance. I made this hoping everyone would feel its vibrant and joyful energy. And I’m really glad that it has been loved by so many.

Justice - “Stress”

BUMZU: When I first heard this song, I was like, “Wow... How could music be so rough?” The song struck me as incredibly original. It’s also how I got to know about the artist Justice for the first time.

King Gnu – “Hakujitsu”

BUMZU: It’s the first song that got me understanding King Gnu’s vibe. It made me really sad the first time I heard it. Later, when I looked up the lyrics, I found “また出逢えたら君の名前を呼んでもいいかな その頃にはきっと春風が吹くだろう.” It means, “If we meet again somewhere, will you still remember my name? The spring breeze will surely blow at that time,” which deeply “touched” me emotionally.

eill - “Finale.”

BUMZU: The combination of the chords and the melody are quite easy on the ears, so you find yourself following the song until the very end.

Kanye West - “Jail”

BUMZU: I was stunned when this album was released. This is my favorite song on the album. The song’s composition and the synth bass sound, in particular, are really memorable.

Fred again.. – “Turn On The Lights again..” (feat. Future)

BUMZU: It’s the song that I mix in the first and last when I play music at a party. “Fred again..” is simply the best. I just love it so much. Seriously.
