Real Fans Zone (ENA, Channel Fullmoon Youtube)
Bae Jiahn: “Who has fun watching baseball?!” said illzuata who made a guest appearance on “Real Fans Zone.” Many baseball fans agree with her. The 2024 KBO league finally kicked off, and the opening games at all five stadiums were sold out. Baseball fans are always angry. But they watch it every single day. To all the “muggles” who struggle to understand this sentiment, allow me to introduce you to the “Real Fans Zone.” The “Real Fans Zone” is a channel that features long-time fans of the Hanhwa Eagles reacting to their team’s baseball games as they cheer and fall into despair. They gleefully sing the cheer song together, heckle the other team’s fans in the Chungcheong-do dialect, but then succumb to misery only minutes later as the tables quickly turn. Someone even stormed off the set and stared up to the sky sighing in frustration. Former baseball player Kim Tae-kyun told producer Shin Won-ho, who was considering just going home, how dejected he felt whenever he saw some of the fans leave before the game ended. To this, Cha Tae-hyun and In Gyo-jin retorts that they too feel dejected. But when Moon Hyun-bin takes his place in the hitter’s box with his morale dampened, Cha clasps his hands together and prays that people don’t pressure him too much. This is what fans do. Hanhwa Eagles lost every time they shot “Real Fans Zone” which was purely coincidental, of course, but Cha began to think that they might be losing because he was watching. He thinks that he might be the angel of defeat even though he isn’t there at the stadium. Cha Tae-hyun hides behind the couch and gives up watching the game, even forgetting about the shoot. Thankfully (?) things start to look brighter for Hanhwa, and he cheers. “I’ve found a way for us to win! All I have to do is not watch the game!” He would rather have his team win even if it meant that he couldn’t watch them anymore. This is what baseball fans, true fans, are like.

Tyler, the Creator’s Coachella 2024 Concert
Kang Ilkwon (Music Critic): The Coachella Festival is a chance for the artists to show off their live performance chops as well as their unique creative prowess outside the studio, like stage art and storytelling, for example. It is also a great joy for the festival goers to be able to see so many different artists perform. I’m sure everyone who experienced Coachella 2024 had some of their best moments there. Mine was Tyler the Creator’s headline show. The performance on April 13 (local time) was the pure incarnation of a creative universe as imagined by Tyler. The show starts off with a bang. There are two large rocky hills against the backdrop of the desert. There is an old trailer there. Tyler, dressed as a National Park ranger, shoots out of the trailer with a huge explosion. It is the kind of theatric opening that hip hop artists often showcase on award show performances, but with more special effects. The audience is blasted into a state of elation for about 80 minutes with many different concepts and images that cross and overlap in the video projection behind the set. The highlight is when he sings “Who Dat Boy.” The whole stage is pitch dark when the intro with the irritable sound plays, and LED lights that could be coming from a spaceship flicker. The ominous tension is pulled taught. When the main dynamic beat starts rolling, balls of fire shoot up all across the stage, and a UFO manifested via CG appears suspended in midair. Tyler appears on stage with another rap superstar: A$AP Rocky. Tyler's music video that dropped in 2017 was a horror whereas the live show this time around is a mystery SF. It was a thrilling, electrifying experience. From the piano version of “EARFQUAKE” that was performed with the 71 year old soul singer-song-writer Charlie Wilson, down to the performance of “NEW MAGIC WAND,” and the movie magic ending where Tyler was blown off the stage by a wind storm then disappears... Tyler’s Coachella 2024 performance was one of the best shows that had it all - hi-tech stage installations, solid show structure, and mind-blowing stunts. I am extremely jealous of the people who were there at the source of all these intense emotions.

Challengers
Jeong Seohui (Cinema Journalist): The powerful hit of the ball, fiercely beating heartbeat, hard bodies, dripping beads of sweat. Three tennis players Tashi (Zendaya Coleman), Patrick (Josh O’Connor), and Art’s (Mike Faist) “relationship” can be translated into a game of tennis. They warm up the court, then warm up each other off court. Director Luca Guadagnino captures ambition, the love triangle rife with sexual tension in a blend of slow motion and the tennis ball’s point of view in a dynamic way. The techno and electronica background music are provocative. Between Patrick and Art, two far extremes of hot and cold, stands the net: Tashi. She was the junior ace player, and star. She was meant to be the champion but switches her career to coaching instead after a fatal knee injury. Grand slam champion and Tashi’s husband Art is struggling after losing a number of matches back-to-back. Tashi, who decides that Art needs to regain his sense of victory enters him at the Challenger level. There, they meet Patrick, who had been playing tennis to make ends meet. It had been 13 years since they have last seen each other. Formerly Tashi’s lover and Art’s best friend Patrick was also a gem of a player; Art used to beg him to let him win. But now he is a mediocre player who lingers, declining help from his wealthy family. Patrick and Art, who had been friends since they were bunkmates at a tennis boarding school both fell in love with Tashi after seeing her mesmerizing match play. The two boys were close friends and had excellent chemistry as doubles partners despite being polar opposites. When Tashi and playboy Patrick become an item, Art felt a change in Patrick even before he confessed that he wouldn’t think to cheat on Tashi, and Art seeks to come between them. However, Patrick sees through Art, and isn’t fazed when Art says that Tashi doesn’t take him seriously. Patrick brushes Art off, calling him a snake, and that his fire burns brighter and hotter. Patrick cares for Art, who loves Tashi, but he was confident. Clean cut, sensitive Art takes advantage of the small crack that formed between them and steals Tashi away. But natural born winner Tashi is still attracted to Patrick’s masterful tact, his eye for the game, and bulldozer-like personality on the court. Tashi, who had to give up her career due to her unforeseen injury, wants Patrick’s pride and his hunger for victory, not Art’s laxness. Desire attracts the same kinds of desire. On the day of the big match, Patrick pokes at Art’s competitiveness and provokes him, while Tashi enters the game in her seat. Locked in a magnetic field, Tashi, Patrick, and Art won’t be able to rally if any single one of them leaves. Absence was the cause of the slump. The three players who let out a powerful cry are all teammates in this strange and sensual triangle. We don’t know who the final winner will be. A game of tennis simply starts with LOVE (0 points). The trajectory of the ball is strong.
