“Sana’s Special Fridge Interview” (117)
Ye Si-yeon: The talk show that gives the viewers a peek at what the stars like to eat entitled “Dex's Fridge Interview” is temporarily taken over by Sana of TWICE due to Dex being occupied with his new television series. Sana’s friends and fellow celebrities have been making appearances to congratulate and support Sana’s first solo talk show. A special corner “What’s in my bag?” has also been added, which is about the guests’ lifestyle and their worries centered on the items in their bags. “I knew she’d be great. She’s a big empath and a great listener. Isn’t that what a talk show host needs to be?” said MIYEON of (G)I-DLE. Indeed, friendly and empathetic Sana successfully created a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere despite being completely new to the job. However, she acts differently around her teammate Nayeon of TWICE whose solo album comeback is around the corner. Sana, who is usually accommodating to the other guests, hilariously teased and scolded Nayeon non-stop. Then they started to look back on the times they spent together as members of TWICE, and Sana said “I tear up when I see pictures of us—when we are in a group hug or look happy,” displaying their 10-year-strong bond.

While “Dex’s Fridge Interview”, which focuses on the chemistry between a male host and a female guest as they meet for the first time on set, is a spinoff of sorts of the original “Fridge Interview,” “Sana's Fridge Interview” is centered on the friendship among female celebrities who work in the same field, which adds another layer of theme to the “Fridge Interview” series. When actress Shin Ye-eun felt shy about going viral for her dance, Sana complimented her by linking her dance with her career saying, “You act out the vibe of the team with your facial expressions.” When Sullyoon of NMIXX did a great job decorating her cupcake, Sana complimented her by asking “Do you want to be my big sister?” Sana’s been known to say that she feels happiest when she gets to show people her authentic side. Her show is a warm one that lets her guests’ true selves shine, with her lovely energy.

Inside Out 2
Jeong Seohui (Cinema Journalist): Inside Out (2015) swapped out putting a positive spin to sadness by making the audience see why Joy’s hair is blue and acknowledged the existence of sadness. Inside Out 2 is a coming-of-age story of 13-year-old Riley whose Headquarters suddenly gets taken over by Anxiety, Embarrassment, Ennui, and Envy.  Anxiety tries to take control over Riley, who newly gains a Belief System and an ego, and bottles up the core emotions Joy, Sadness, Anger, Disgust, and Fear. Anxiety calculates every possible negative outcome and tries to get rid of anything that could stand in the way of Riley who is a budding ice hockey player. In doing so she chases practicality – and like a villain at that. The film portrays the contradictions of puberty as an innocent and simultaneous introduction of emotions. Anxiety that Riley feels is, in essence, self-belittlement, and Joy, who tried to remove all the bad memories, is tasked with helping Riley become a good person. However, Riley undergoes constant change somewhere in between the two poles. The appearance of the new characters didn’t lead to a fresh and original sequel. The Inside Out series is bound to disappear into “me.” All “my” emotions do their best for “me” in a volume that “I” cannot hear. The audience once again witnesses the chaotic process of searching for the solution, and a silent yet boisterous story of love on screen.

Moses Sumney – “Vintage”
Kang Ilkwon (Music Critic): Not only the music but also the people behind RM’s new album entitled Right Place, Wrong Person is intriguing. Little Simz and Moses Sumney?! RM had preferred to work with people who have their own unique music styles, but it was quite the surprise when these artists featured in his album. I was particularly pleased to see Moses Sumney, since he doesn’t release his work very frequently. He finally dropped a new single recently. The title “Vintage” tells us everything we need to know about the story and production behind the song. The rhythm of the drums varies throughout the song, the piano layers a clean melody over the beat, and the effervescent synthesizer is peppered here and there, while the whole ensemble is finished off in a lo-fi texture. Sumney freely jumping to and from falsetto to his real voice sings about how we should go back to how love was done “back then.” The music video that he directed himself includes all the key elements that made a mid-90s R&B music video: (black) leather outfits, performance at a huge mansion, a passionate sequence in the rain etc. The crossover of neo-soul and alternative R&B paired with the nostalgia-inducing music video stirs up a particular kind of emotion. FYI, the music video of “Vintage” was filmed with never-released new Kodak motion-picture film stock. Moses Sumney is an all-round artist. He also worked as a model and has directed films. He will also debut as an actor in the upcoming horror film MaXXXine (starring Mia Goth) produced by A24. If you’re wondering about the vocals in RM’s “Around the world in a day” you’ve stumbled upon an artist who is incredibly gifted. Grab this opportunity to get to know him better.
