QWER is back with their lovely discord, showing the world a never-before-seen level of sincerity with their second mini album, Algorithm’s Blossom. In the chaotic snippets served up by the algorithm, the group is set on showing the world who they really are: Chodan, Magenta, Hina, and Siyeon. Read on as they discuss their latest album and share a playlist of the songs they turn to to feel better.

“My Name is Malguem” (QWER)
Chodan: This song beautifully captures the idea that all the sorrow you’ve been pushing down inside will someday turn into something clear and bright (“Malguem”). I think it can make people who’ve gone through something similar feel better and feel seen!

Magenta: The melody and the lyrics get better and better the more you listen to this song! And I feel like it’s a perfect fit for how the weather’s getting cooler these days.

Hina: It’s a fun song with a simple melody, but the lyrics are a bit sad, which makes it stand out. The piano’s so beautiful, and with all four of us singing on this track, you’ll hear a whole new side to QWER.

Siyeon: The song’s got sentimental lyrics and a melancholy piano backing. The instruments played on the track are also fun, so I think listeners will be able to feel a range of emotions from it.

“run! run! run!” (QWER)
Chodan: This song’s great because it’s both dreamy and very chic. I think it’s really cool and can give you the strength you need to keep going when things get tough. It’s also my first time doing a duet with Genta, so I hope everyone loves it.

Magenta: This is the first duet I ever did with Chodan. The bass and drums are perfect for the track and our vocals are really unique here. My recommendation is to listen to it when you’re getting off work for the day!

“REBOUND” (QWER)
Hina: This song’s got a bright, breezy melody that’s really captivating, and the guitar solo’s so cool. Make sure to keep an ear out for all that!

Siyeon: What I really like about this song is how cool the bell in the intro sounds. And I just know everyone’s going to love those high notes in the hook!

“Goodbye My Sadness” (QWER)
Magenta: This song goes out to people who feel stuck in their sadness, telling them to embrace their memories and do their best to carry on. And the lyrics are really, really beautiful. Don’t miss this one!

Siyeon: I’m sure everyone alive has at least one or two painful or sad memories. This song softly extends a comforting hand, telling people just to hang onto the happy memories you have. It’s also about how you can make good memories from now on together. Genta and I helped write the lyrics, so I hope people focus on the emotions in them!

“New Hippie Generation” (PEPPERTONES)
Chodan: I feel like this song can make you feel happy and free even when you’re faced with the daily grind. I really love it because it asks you to slow down from your busy life and savor the moment every day.

“Shining” (Jaurim)
Magenta: This song was a source of comfort when I was in middle school and didn’t have many friends. It’s a really great listen in autumn in particular.

“Steal The Show” from Elemental (Lauv)
Hina: This song’s amazing. The rhythm is already great, but the melody is so emotional. There’s just something uplifting about it no matter when you listen. Recommended.

“Hope” (H.O.T.)
Siyeon: This song’s always there to reassure me and cheer me on as I continue to make music. It came out when I was really young, but I discovered it when I was listening to old songs my parents probably listened to a lot! I chose this song because I’m sure it was a source of comfort and hope for a lot of people during a tough time and I hope our songs can do the same! Even though the lyrics are the real highlight, I personally love the piano in the intro, so I recommend paying close attention to that part when you listen!

Chodan’s recommendations: PEPPERTONES - ‘Good Luck to You’, John Mayer - ‘Still Feel Like Your Man’
Magenta’s recommendations: Sam Ock - ‘Little Light’, Lamp - ‘Hatachi no Koi’
Hina’s recommendations: Ariana Grande - ‘the boy is mine’, Metallica - ‘Enter Sandman’
Siyeon’s recommendations: Yoo Jae-Ha  - ‘Because I Love You’, YOUNHA - ‘Sunflower’
