“Knocking at your door.” BOYNEXTDOOR has knocked on the door to the world with their debut album WHO! They aren’t perfect, but their heartfelt stories are filled with youthful excitement and affection. We invited the six boys who have just opened the door and stepped out and asked them about the three lead singles that are about their candid emotions, as well as the music that they listen to everyday.

SUNGHO: It's a fun song about the confusion and affections that a boy feels after falling in love and spilling his heart out to his friends. Everyone experiences the complexity of emotions when they fall in love. I think that’s why this song is so relatable. :)

RIWOO: It’s a relatable song that vividly illustrates the emotions of liking someone using really ordinary phrases like, “But I Like You.” We had a lot of fun singing it, making it sound like we took a scene out of our ordinary day. Hehe

JAEHYUN: The song has a really cool vibe, and the lyrics scream youth! Give it a listen while looking out for the lyrics that reflect each of our characters.

TAESAN: Just as the title suggests, “But I Like You” is a candid song about being overwhelmed by the feelings of liking someone for the first time and having a hard time adjusting to the new feelings.

LEEHAN: It’s a song where we sing about emotions of experiencing love for the first time as if we are confiding in a friend. This newfound emotion is creatively expressed with the words, “You’re driving me crazy, but I like you.” It’s a fun, upbeat song, so you can really feel our energy!!

WOONHAK: Our debut album ‘WHO!’ is a single album about the innocent love of a boy that starts with a crush and ends with him eventually serenading her. “But I Like You” is an expression of the six boys’ overwhelming excitement over experiencing love for the first time! I hope it brings you back to when you were young and had a crush on someone!

SUNGHO: It’s a song about appealing to the person you like about how amazing of a person you are! I think it showcases our team’s confidence and unique charm!

RIWOO: I really believe that this song illustrates our unique colors the best! I love this song even more because I worked on it hoping that you could feel that electrifying thrillI felt when I first heard it and saw the choreography.

JAEHYUN: It’s a fun song with diverse variations of rhythm and trendy sound. I hope that you will join us in  various challenges, too, and look out for the intro that JAEHYUN and I are in! “Representing KOZ!”

TAESAN: It is a song about a boy getting ready and making himself look good before leaving to meet his crush. It’s a song with a light, enjoyable beat!

LEEHAN: It’s a song about a boy who is trying to calm his nerves before confessing his love to his crush. He tells himself that he’s one of a kind, and that he’s the coolest guy ever. It has a variety of fun sounds in the beat, and the performance is so witty and energetic. I think it represents BOYNEXTDOOR’s colors the best.

WOONHAK: It’s a song that shows you how cool and fresh we are, and that we know how to have a good time! You won’t be able to forget it once you hear it, so I hope you have fun with it! 

SUNGHO: It's a song with impressive lyrics about a boy professing his love that he's been holding back. I like how he’s shy but he expresses how he feels with all his heart.

RIWOO: Everyone thought this song was tough because it involves a lot of difficult emotional expressions. We all chanted, “Let’s go confess our love now!!” before we began practicing this song. We really wanted to get the excitement and the nervousness across. I hope that you can feel that way when you listen to it!

JAEHYUN: It’s a song of a boy nervously but passionately expressing his love. It has an incredible band sound! There are a lot of detailed parts and fun little elements in it. Also, there’s a whole narrative so, keep your ears open for the lyrics as well!

TAESAN: It’s a song about telling your crush how you feel. The guy feels really nervous before he tells her, but he makes the leap, so there’s a satisfying plot! 

LEEHAN: We’re finally professing our love! The song starts out with the guitar, and the powerful sound of the bass feels like your beating heart - so the song pulls you in deeper. You can really see our free-spirited energy and the fun little expressions and gestures in between the performances!

WOONHAK: This song portrays one whole day leading up to serenading the girl, from taking a walk with her in the morning, to full on confessing his love in the evening! It’s a song that captures our unique sensibilities and youthfulness. It might be fun to picture us after this album, so we hope you have fun with it!

SUNGHO:  I relate so much to the expressive lyrics. It's a good song for when you’re driving or going for a walk. :)

RIWOO: I personally like songs with a narrative, and songs you can listen to any time of the day. I especially like this one because the lyrics, the melody - everything about it tickles your heart. I think it's one of the best songs of all time. I know it’s a really famous song, but still, I hope you give it another listen, even if you already know it!

JAEHYUN: It’s city pop, which is one of my favorite genres! It’s a great song to listen to when you want to get away from the city and take a break!

TAESAN: I really like this song because the simple topline melody calms you down, and the instrumentals add that classical touch.

LEEHAN: I try really hard to show our fans the best of myself. I’m so committed to growing every day, at least a little bit at a time, and sometimes I get all worn out. That’s when this song comes in! It gives me the strength to keep going every time I listen to it.

WOONHAK: I love this song because it calms me down whenever and wherever I listen to it.
