fromis_9 has gone out into the wider world in search of a more honest look at themselves and they’ve returned with their first full-length studio album, Unlock My World—a show of their determination to break free from society’s preconceptions and to create a world of their own. Here they tell us about the songs that define them and give some recommendations for flover.
“#menow” (fromis_9)
LEE SAE ROM: I hope you like “#menow.” It fits the mood anytime, anywhere. It’ll also fill you with confidence.

SONG HA YOUNG: This song gives an honest, unadorned look at fromis_9. It’s not just cheery—it has all kinds of different vibes, so it’ll show you a side of the group you’ve never seen before.

PARK JI WON: This song’s all about not hiding who you really are, and about feeling confident enough to face others no matter who you are. You should listen to this song when you want to have a day full of self-assurance!

ROH JI SUN: This is the perfect song to listen to—anytime, any season! Listen to it when you want to feel closer to yourself!

LEE SEO YEON: I’m really attached to this song since it was made through the process of thinking a lot about who our true selves are! It’s good to listen to when you want to feel more confident in yourself, so I’d called it a self-esteem booster!

LEE CHAE YOUNG: I absolutely love the lyrics to “#menow.” It’s all about loving yourself for who you are, even in a world where people might judge you. I hope people pay close attention to the words because I think a lot of people will be able to relate.

LEE NA GYUNG:
This song says it’s okay to love yourself. It helps you be honest about yourself exactly the way you are, without pretenses.

BAEK JI HEON: I think this song adds a mature twist to fromis_9’s already unique image. The amazing lyrics and melody are already really emotional, but it’s even better if you watch the performance too.

“Attitude” (fromis_9)

PARK JI WON: From the tense, dark intro to the strong beat and carefree vocals of the chorus, this whole song’s great. It shows how, no matter what reality has in store for us, we can believe in ourselves and take the high road until the end. It’s even better if you watch the performance.

ROH JI SUN: The melody is deep and the lyrics shine. You can listen to it anytime. When you have to be serious! When you’re trying to get something! When you work out!

LEE CHAE YOUNG: I’ve been obsessed with the line, “Don’t worry about me / Even if it looks like I’m falling, I’m free.” You might say I’m falling, but I’m actually flying.

“Wishlist” (fromis_9)
SONG HA YOUNG: I like this song because, even though the melody feels nice and light, if you think about what the English lyrics mean, it’s just the opposite.

PARK JI WON
: I participated in co-writing the words and music for this song. It’s all about feeling confident enough to love yourself and not care what other people see in you or their expectations. It’s a great song, both for the emotional melody and the honest lyrics.

BAEK JI HEON: This song’s especially fun to listen to when you’re out for a drive. It’ll help put you at ease.
“In the Mirror” (fromis_9)
SONG HA YOUNG: The first time I heard this song, I felt captivated by its charm. It’s a duet between Seoyeon and Nagyung, and I think their voices harmonize really well together.

PARK JI WON: This song is a combination of Seoyeon’s funky vocals and Nagyung’s soft voice. They come together to create a totally unique sound. I think the second verse is especially good so I hope people focus in on that part!

LEE NA GYUNG: This is a duet that Seoyeon and I recorded. There’s something unique about the vibe and we worked really hard to record it, so I’m really fond of it.
“Don’t Care” (fromis_9)
BAEK JI HEON: The melody and beat in this song are so great that you’ll suddenly start walking with confidence and dance a little to yourself.
“Prom Night” (fromis_9)
LEE SAE ROM: Hayoung, Chaeyoung, Jiheon and I put this song out as a new unit. Our voices match up really well, so don’t miss it.
“Bring It On” (fromis_9)
LEE SAE ROMThis is a bit of a different genre from the usual thing our group does, so it was fun to record, and I think that made the final track sound even better.

ROH JI SUN: This song’s an earworm from start to finish. It can take spending some free time with a nice cup of coffee in pleasant weather and make it that much better!

LEE SEO YEON: The whistling, the unique sound and rhythm, all the ad libs here and there … There’s plenty to love about this one. Don’t stop at listening to it just once. It’s even better when you let it get stuck in your head. 👍
“What I Want” (fromis_9)
ROH JI SUN: Thanks to the steadily rising beat and the lyrics, this song can get you excited when you’re about to start something new! It’s a fun song with lots of exciting parts.
“My Night Routine” (fromis_9)
LEE SEO YEON: I’m recommending “My Night Routine.” ❤️ I like everything about it: The music’s got a good groove, the melody is nice and warm, and the lyrics are about a nice end to the day as you talk with someone you care about before bed. ❤️

LEE NA GYUNG: This was the first time a song that I co-wrote appeared on one of our albums, so it holds a lot of meaning for me. I hope people vibe with the calmness of the song.
“Eye Contact” (fromis_9)
LEE SAE ROM: This song was made with flover in mind. It means a lot to us because all the group members helped to write the lyrics.

SONG HA YOUNG: This is the 10th and final track on our new album and the only one whose original title is in Korean. We all took part in writing the lyrics and it’s the first song we made specifically for our fans, so we really came together to sing this one. It means a lot to me.

LEE CHAE YOUNG: I wrote this song with the other members with flover in mind, so it always makes me think of them and being in concert all together.
“Look at My Shoes!” (Chan, SHIRT)
LEE SEO YEON: I love how witty the lyrics are. It’s real feel-good music, like you’re putting on a new pair of shoes.
“Dangerously” (Charlie Puth)
LEE NA GYUNG: I like almost all of Charlie Puth’s songs. His voice sounds so good. And I especially like how “Dangerously” stays with you long after hearing it.
