VICTON’s new album Choice marks the end of the group’s TIME TRILOGY and finds them making a confident choice as they seek out their true identity, even though their fate may seem sealed. We asked the group about their new single, “Virus,” and its message of overcoming tragedy and fear to live life with no regrets, and had them recommend some songs for their ever-loyal fandom, ALICE.

“Virus” (VICTON)

SeungSik: Our single “Virus” wraps up our TIME TRILOGY! While the previous songs were sort of chaotic, we wanted this one to be upbeat but also sincere. When I first heard the song, I wasn’t sure we could pull it off, but I actually felt really good about it after we recorded the vocals. It’s even better if you watch the choreography at the same time!

SeJun: When I first heard this song, I thought the idea of a love virus was cute but a little embarrassing. But I practiced hard because I love ALICE so much and thought it would be fun and meaningful! Try not to catch a cold! And show your love for our song “Virus”! 😊

HanSe: My first thought upon hearing this was that it was a new direction for VICTON, and that the deep beat for the rap part would let me put on a great rap performance.

ByungChan: The first time I heard the song, I thought it would be a good one for putting on a good performance to, and I thought the melody was really catchy, too. I hope people pay extra close attention to the chorus!

SuBin: I think our single “Virus” is really different from the songs you hear lately! I was surprised when I first heard the demo version, so it didn’t really conjure any images in my mind, but the more I listened to it, the more images came to me! I think it’s a really unique song. :)

“Time Chaser” (VICTON)

SeungSik: I think “Time Chaser” is a great song for showcasing each member’s vocal style. It feels like you’re running towards something, like the title suggests, so it’s good for when you’re out for a drive. The title alone sounds epic! I really like this one.

SeJun: This song’s really exciting, and it was a little unusual at first because the song title is one of our longer ones. I thought a lot while recording the vocals about how to make listeners feel like their hearts are pounding! I hope you like the song and I hope it really does make your heart pound!

HanSe: It’s a good song to listen to when you’re running somewhere at top speed and it has great lyrics that sound like a teen drama.

ByungChan: This is basically a rock song, so it really caught my attention when I first heard it. It sounded so fresh. You should pay special attention to the chorus and try listening to it when you’re running around or feeling excited!

SuBin: This is the only song on the album that has a Korean title, too! Most songs are made with a focus on their melody or instrumentation, but this one focuses on the lyrics and it really captures the message of the album well.

“Alive” (VICTON, from their eighth mini album)

SeungSik: I love all the songs on our new album, but I want to personally recommend “Alive!” After we recorded it, I realized it’s going to make for a great performance. It made me think of the second part of the song “New World” off our album nostalgia for that reason! It feels so elaborate and passionate. The other members like how it turned out, too, and so I want to recommend this to you! I can’t wait to put on a cool performance of this song for all of you!

“Ghost Town” (Benson Boone)

SeJun: I randomly heard this song a while ago and I think almost everyone knows it now. I’m recommending this one because I’ve been listening to it a long time!

“the idea” (blackbear)

HanSe: This is a pop punk song that’s fun to listen to, so I listen to it all the time.

“Pretender” (Official HIGE DANdism)

ByungChan: I’m recommending this song for its amazing melody and lyrics and for how catchy it is. It feels just like a scene out of a TV show.

“Alive” (VICTON, from their eighth mini album)

SuBin: I’m recommending “Alive” off our new album! If I had to describe it, I’d call it a hip hop/R&B song overall, but the synths in the chorus give it a retro vibe, so I think there’s a lot of different things to like about it.
