As an artist and head of his own label, RAVI pushes forward with his musical vision without hesitation or restriction. Returning with his fifth mini album, LOVE & HOLIDAY, we asked RAVI for his thoughts on his double A-side with “KISS YOU” and “DUMB DUMB DUMB” as well as songs that bring back meaningful memories for him.

“KISS YOU” (RAVI)

RAVI: The first single, “KISS YOU,” is all about making a romantic and memorable start of things before you fall in love by kissing someone right on the lips instead of beating around the bush because you already know you have big, deep feelings for them. It sounds so breezy, so it’s probably a good listen for when you’re out for a drive, but … I hope people will still listen to it anytime, anywhere!

“DUMB DUMB DUMB” (RAVI)

RAVI: “DUMB DUMB DUMB,” the second single, is about being so hurt by the person you love that it feels like they destroyed you. This is another cool and fast song, so it’s a good listen when you’re out on a drive or working out … but again, I hope people enjoy listening to it no matter what they’re up to.

“CAMERA” (RAVI)

RAVI: We learn from an early age that when someone takes your picture you have to say “cheese” or “kimchi” and smile, and eventually we get used to that. For the same reason, we try to put on a happy face when we’re with someone else, too. And I think we show that same behavior through social media in modern times. So we have an even harder time revealing our true selves when we’re on a screen and it’s easy to be misunderstood or criticized in a split second. I hope people find happiness not from moments that quickly fizzle out but in their brightly burning selves and in the people who really have their eyes open and love them. That goes for me and everyone else!

“JOE GOLDBERG” (RAVI)

RAVI: “JOE GOLDBERG” is named after the male main character in the Netflix series You who is obsessive about being loved to the point of being a psychopath. I made this song to explain that it isn’t love if you’re hurting someone else. It’s a fun listen, and the break point in the fast, tense rhythm of the song is sort of like the mood of the show.

“LOVE HATE RELATIONSHIP” (RAVI)

RAVI: This song captures that ironic love–hate feeling. It’s the kind of song that would be right at home in a teen drama, but it also has fun and lighthearted lyrics, so listen close!

“D-DAY” (Whee In)

RAVI: This song is absolute perfection. That might be because I worked on it, but … it’s not just that! Haha. I’m very happy with how the song turned out, personally, but sonically speaking it’s very high quality. The song structure, with Whee In’s deep voice in the verses and pre-hook and shouting in the chorus, feels cathartic. This single goes through Whee In’s memories of important days like her birthday and first solo fan meeting event. I hope you like it!

“Make Me Happy” (Whee In)

RAVI: I can’t forget to mention “Make Me Happy,” the song that Whee In won first place with on one of the music shows. The music is warm, and conjures up images of fluttering in the wind, making it the perfect song for all times of day and year and any occasion.

“Pink Cloud” (Whee In)

RAVI: This isn’t a single, but I think it holds up to any other song. Have you ever seen a pink sky and clouds on a bright, sunny day? This song lets you actually hear the beautiful scenery and then picture it in your head. Don’t skip on this song! It’ll make you feel really good!

“Let’s go out tonight” (Xydo)

RAVI: Xydo’s latest song, “Let’s go out tonight,” is a nice, easy-listening song that pairs well with beer, coffee or tea, and is a great listen night or day. It’s really rare to hear anything as captivating as the mix of Xydo’s vocals with the minimalist acoustic track, so make sure to give it a listen.

“Free” (Xydo)

RAVI: “Free” was on the soundtrack to the popular tvN drama Twenty Five Twenty One. I imagine fans of the show are already somewhat familiar with Xydo’s voice. Like the show, the song is refreshing and romantic, energetic and youthful. It makes you feel like you’re in a school band, running faster and faster, drenched in sweat but fluttering by beautifully. Be sure to give this lovely song a listen.
