It’s already time to say goodbye to another year. Here's a holiday playlist of songs recommended by the artists on Weverse for all their fans to listen to as we look back on the past year and with hope toward the next.
“River” (Ellie Goulding)
Sumin (STAYC): My recommended song is “River” by Ellie Goulding. At this time of year, you tend to think of warm, cozy carols. I wanted to recommend this song because it’s a carol right from the outset, with Ellie Goulding’s husky, but warm and cozy, vocals. I usually listen to upbeat carols, but I wanted to recommend a song with this kind of feel and genre, too, and, personally, I was drawn to it the second I first heard it. And it was always in my head so I would listen to it even before the holiday season. I hope this song helps everyone have a warm and happy end to their year!

“Warm December” (Sabrina Claudio)
SIHYEON (EVERGLOW): I want to recommend people to listen to “Warm December” by Sabrina Claudio at the end of the year. I like Sabrina Claudio’s songs year round so I have all her songs in my playlist, but you’ll probably know why I made “Warm December” my pick as soon as you give it a listen. Her relaxed vocals are perfect for the winter—it feels like I’m wrapped up nice and warm in them. I hope this song makes you feel warm during the cold wintertime, too, and gives you a small chance to relax.

“Day 1 ◑” (HONNE)
HEESEUNG (ENHYPEN): The holidays come around every year, but they’re the kind of days that make you feel excited like the first time, every time. I want ENGENE to feel the excitement of experiencing something new, so that’s why I’m recommending this song. It’s a good song to listen to when you’re having a good time with the people who are close to you, I think.
“Merry Christmas ahead” (IU feat. Chundung of MBLAQ)
BEOMGYU (TOMORROW X TOGETHER): I could really get the feel of the winter season when I first heard the song when I was a kid, and I remember how I fell in love with it again every time I heard it wherever I went. That’s why I’m recommending it. I used Cyworld back then and I remember I even set it to my background music. That song made the winters of my childhood!
“Save Your Tears (Remix)” (The Weeknd & Ariana Grande)
VERNON (SEVENTEEN): It’s a good song to listen to when you’re moving around or working out and don’t want to think about anything, full of nostalgia and melancholy. Sometimes it makes me feel more lonely if I listen to it too closely, but I think it’d be good to listen to at the end of the year in the winter when it’s cold.
“Warm on a Christmas Night” (HONNE)
BAEKHO (NU’EST): The sight of the sun going down these days, combined with all the colorful holiday lights everywhere in the street, is so beautiful. So I recommend this song with the hope that people will listen to it under the beautiful scenery and find some comfort in the holidays no matter how tired they feel at the end of the day.
“The Breath of Winter” (MAKTUB feat. Jung Young Eun)
Hayoung (fromis_9): I liked the way Jung Young Eun’s voice sounded and felt from the first time I heard the song so put it in my music library and listened to it repeatedly. It really captures that exciting feeling of wanting to be with the person you like on a cold day in the middle of winter, waiting to watch the snow fall or just being together. So you feel happy and start to feel better when you listen to it. If you listen to it on a cold day, you’ll feel warm all over. You should pay attention to where it says, “How happy / Winter flowers fluttering / Bells ringing out through a white world,” in the chorus. The lyrics and the melody are so exhilarating and make you think of being with the one you love on a snowy day. And you’ll feel absolutely flooded with emotion if you sing the song yourself, making it easy to focus on the song.
“Santa Claus Is Coming to Town” (Bill Evans)
ASAHI (TREASURE): The song screams Christmas right from the title. I know it well, since my parents would play this song when I was young, and that’s what made me like jazz as much as I do. Whenever I hear this song, my memories come back to me and I feel wonderful and at ease. I hope this song will make everyone feel happy and warm inside at the year’s end.
“You’ve Got a Friend in Me (From ‘Toy Story’/Soundtrack Version)” (Randy Newman)
JIU (Dreamcatcher): Christmas makes me think of this song. (laughs) I think it captures that warm atmosphere of friendship and love better than any other song. So I recommend this song and hope everyone spends the end of their year with someone who fills their hearts, too!
“All I Want for Christmas Is You” (Mariah Carey)
Jihan (Weeekly): Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” is the first carol I remember hearing and my favorite. When the song starts, as soon as you hear that opening, don’t you just feel the excitement of Christmas? When I hear the song, it’s like I can smell winter in the air! ❄️ And I really love the song’s lyrics. “I don’t want a lot for Christmas! I don’t care about presents … All I want is you!” Those kind of romantic lyrics make it feel even Christmassier! 🎁 Make sure to listen to “All I Want for Christmas Is You” with the people close to you this Christmas. 💖
