Back in February, SEUNGKWAN—SEVENTEEN’s resident K-pop professor—and TOMORROW X TOGETHER member SOOBIN were broadcasting on Weverse Live together and lost track of time as they kept on recommending K-pop songs to each other and to CARAT and MOA. Undoubtedly, SOOBIN played a good teacher’s assistant to SEUNGKWAN’s role as Professor Boo. In the afterglow of that sincere conversation, we caught up with the two walking K-pop encyclopedias and asked them about some of their recent favorites.

“Celebrate” (TWICE)

SEUNGKWAN: I love the very energy of this song. I recommend everyone listen to this song because all the members of the group helped write the lyrics so it’s a very touching song for fans.

“Broken Promises” (KARA)

SOOBIN: I think this is the most realistic breakup song I can think of. I chose this song to give people a taste of KARA’s first studio album but every single song is really, really fantastic. Make sure you listen to them all. Go KARA! KARA forever!

“Given-Taken” (ENHYPEN)

SEUNGKWAN: This boy group’s debut song left a strong impression on me. I personally really like songs with this kind of feel to them. Recommended for listeners who like dreamy but dark songs!

“Together” (SEVENTEEN)

SOOBIN: If you listen to the lyrics, they’re very comforting and make me more thankful. When you listen to it, think of the person or people you want to be with. I’ll be thinking of MOA.

“Segno” (NU’EST)

SEUNGKWAN: Even with all the good music they put out, this is NU’EST’s single best song, singles included! It’s a nice song to listen to when you’re out for a drive or taking a walk and soaking up the sun.

“Sync 100%” (Block B)

SOOBIN: I heard this song back in elementary school thanks to my sister, and over 10 years later, I’m still listening to it. The melody is exactly what I like and the group members’ characteristically strong vocals, rap style and kind of cute lyrics make the song fun.

“Real Love” (OH MY GIRL)

SEUNGKWAN: Make sure to go down to Hangang River Park with friends and listen to this one once it gets warmer out. As soon as I put this song on, it feels like spring is here. 🙂

“Best Of Me” (BTS)

SOOBIN: This was one of my favorite BTS songs when I was a trainee. Actually, there’s a lot of classics hidden away on LOVE YOURSELF: Answer. Make sure you give it a listen!
