Bad Bunny’s album “DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS” climbed back to No. 1 this past week from No. 7. The album first debuted at No. 2 on the chart dated January 18 and went on to spend three consecutive weeks at No. 1. It hasn’t left the Top 10 since and has now claimed a fourth week at No. 1 within a three-month space. The resurgence was driven by the limited edition vinyl released on May 2 via the singer’s website—the only physical release of “DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS” to date. The album has otherwise been available exclusively through digital downloads and streaming. Preorders for the vinyl began in early February on Bad Bunny’s website, with delivery expected in late April. Ultimately, all shipments were made in early May and counted towards this week’s chart.

Weekly figures surged to 84,000 units, more than double the previous week. Album sales, all from vinyl, totaled 48,000 units, putting it back at No. 1 on the Top Album Sales chart. It’s the best sales performance for a Latin album in six years. In 2019, Santana’s album “Africa Speaks” sold 57,000 units, a total driven by then-prevalent concert ticket bundle offers that are no longer recognized by “Billboard.” The 48,000 vinyl copies Bad Bunny moved set a record for the most weekly sales for a Latin album on vinyl, surpassing the 20,000 vinyl copies sold by Kali Uchis’ 2024 release “ORQUÍDEAS.” His album was also streamed 50.3 million times, equal to 36,000 units and placing it at No. 6 on the Top Streaming Albums chart.

Fuerza Regida’s album “111XPANTIA” debuted at No. 2. The Mexican band, hailing from California, is known for blending traditional Mexican corrido with modern genres like hip hop and reggaeton, helping pioneer the corridos tumbados genre. Since debuting in 2015, they’ve enjoyed continuous popularity and were named Top Duo/Group two years running on the “Billboard” year-end charts for 2023 and 2024. The feat was a first for a Spanish-language artist. “111XPANTIA” moved 76,000 units, including 39,000 in album sales, debuting at No. 2 on the Top Album Sales chart. 50.4 million streams added an additional 37,000 units, placing the album at No. 5 on the Top Streaming Albums chart.

“111XPANTIA” marked Fuerza Regida’s first Top 10 album and their third Top 40. At No. 2, it’s the highest any Spanish-language album by a duo or group has ever reached. Together with Bad Bunny’s “DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS” at No. 1, this was the first time Latin music dominated both No. 1 and No. 2 on the “Billboard” 200 simultaneously. K-pop hit a similar milestone last August when “ATE” by Stray Kids and “MUSE” by Jimin held the top two spots. The fact that both accomplishments took place within the space of one year reaffirms the growing success of non-English-language music in the US.

The exceptional success of Mexican music is especially striking given the societal situations surrounding the genre. Several Mexican corrido artists have faced accusations of glamorizing drug-related crime, leading to demands for modified setlists when performing in Mexico. Some have even had their US short-term work visas revoked, leading them to have to cancel appearances at festivals and other shows. For instance, Michelada Festival, a celebration of Latin music in Chicago, was outright canceled because organizers couldn’t guarantee the appearance of its originally announced lineup.

Another album debuting in the Top 10 was “Glockaveli” by Key Glock at No. 8. The album moved 34,000 units, with 37.3 million streams contributing 28,000 of those. “Glockaveli” was No. 12 on the Top Streaming Albums chart. The album also sold 6,000 copies, hitting No. 9 on the Top Album Sales chart.

Kendrick Lamar and SZA’s duet “luther” held onto No. 1 for a 12th consecutive week. This marks the first 12-week run at No. 1 since Ed Sheeran’s “Shape of You” in 2017. It also surpassed Puff Daddy and Faith Evans’ 1997 hit “I’ll Be Missing You” for the longest-running No. 1 by a song featuring male and female soloists as the lead singers. When including those where one side is a group, Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men’s “One Sweet Day” holds the record with 16 weeks.

On the Radio Songs chart, “luther” has been No. 1 for six weeks, while it moved up from No. 3 to No. 2 on Streaming Songs. It didn’t chart on Digital Song Sales this past week, however. Although its radio numbers, the main driver for its longevity on the Hot 100, declined by 4%, they remain relatively high. The concern lies with its closest competitor. While “luther” maintained a 20% margin over the No. 2 song the previous week, Doechii’s song “ANXIETY” enjoyed a significant jump in airplay, closing the gap to a mere 5%. “ANXIETY” climbed from No. 10 to No. 9 on the Hot 100 and from No. 3 to No. 2 on Radio Songs. The streaming chart reveals a similar story. While “luther” saw a 7% drop, falling below 20 million streams, Alex Warren’s “Ordinary” held steady at No. 2 on the Hot 100 and No. 1 on Streaming Songs. If “luther” continues to lose ground in airplay, we may see a change at the top. Meanwhile, “Ordinary” remained at No. 1 on the Global 200 for the second week in a row.

At No. 4, Shaboozey’s “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” enjoyed its 44th week in the Top 5, surpassing the Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights” for the most weeks in the Top 5 in Hot 100 history. Teddy Swims’ “Lose Control,” at No. 7, extended its own record for most weeks in the Top 10, to 61. “Lose Control” has been on the Hot 100 for 90 weeks now, one week short of the 91-week record set by Glass Animals with “Heat Waves” back in 2022.

Mariah the Scientist’s single “Burning Blue” debuted on the Hot 100 at No. 25. Though she previously charted as a featured artist on Tee Grizzley’s “IDGAF” (No. 98) and 21 Savage’s “dark days” (No. 70) early last year, this marks her first solo entry. “Burning Blue” debuted at No. 9 on the Streaming Songs chart, the highest debut by any song for the week.

There’s likely still a lot of listeners out there who aren’t yet familiar with her name, though her most devoted fans are now celebrating that Mariah is no longer just their little secret. The singer didn’t suddenly go viral, nor did she rise to fame through a special appearance. Her rise is rather a testament to her steady dedication to forging her musical path and a meaningful moment for a great artist reaching a turning point in her career.

Mariah had pursued a degree in biology, aiming to become a pediatric anesthesiologist, but she dropped out to focus on her music career once she started writing. Her stage name reflects both her love of biology and her analytical approach to creating music. At first, her music was a secret from everyone except her mother, but her 2018 EP “To Die For,” which she uploaded to SoundCloud, started gaining traction, and it could no longer be kept under wraps. She made her formal debut with the album “MASTER” in 2019, which she followed up in 2021 with “Ry Ry World.” The latter earned the singer widespread acclaim for adding “new profundity to her storytelling” and positioning her as “modern R&B’s realest talker.” Her 2023 album “To Be Eaten Alive” marked her first entry on the “Billboard” 200, debuting at No. 93.

“Burning Blue” is the lead single from her upcoming fourth studio album. Her ability to take a story and translate it into something visually compelling is on full display once again, this time in her first video to prominently feature dancing. The track has been a hit not just with fans but listeners in general, climbing to No. 1 on Apple Music’s Top 100: USA chart.
Her undying authenticity and steady releases were key to her breakthrough. Now, anticipation is building around her fourth album, details for which remain under wraps. This year, Mariah the Scientist joins the ranks of notable female R&B artists to watch.

ROSÉ and Bruno Mars’ duet “APT.” is No. 20 in its 29th week on the Hot 100. It’s No. 22 on Streaming Songs, No. 15 on Digital Song Sales, and No. 18 on Radio Songs. The BLACKPINK member is No. 84 on the Artist 100.

“Priceless” by LISA and Maroon 5 debuts at No. 76 on the Hot 100.

The KATSEYE single “Gnarly” debuts at No. 92 on the Hot 100. The group returns to the Emerging Artists chart at No. 11.

Tablo and RM’s duet “Stop The Rain” debuts at No. 4 on Digital Song Sales. Tablo, meanwhile, debuts at No. 34 on the Emerging Artists chart.

TWS’s third mini album, “TRY WITH US,” debuts at No. 47 on the Top Album Sales chart. The group returns to the Emerging Artists chart, now at No. 15.

ZEROBASEONE’s EP “BLUE PARADISE” is No. 24 in album sales and the group is No. 12 on Emerging Artists.

On the Top Album Sales chart, “HOP” by Stray Kids is No. 20 and “ROMANCE: UNTOLD” by ENHYPEN is No. 43.

Debuting on the Global 200 are “Priceless” (LISA and Maroon 5), “Gnarly” (KATSEYE), “Love Language” (TOMORROW X TOGETHER), and “Stop The Rain” (Tablo and RM). Finally, here’s an overall look at how K-pop’s doing on the chart.
